Kanchanaburi - A former chairman of the National Association of the Deaf in Thailand allegedly slashed the throat of his estranged wife and killed himself after he found that she chatted with foreigners on ThaiLoveLink.com.

The bodies of Surachet Lertsatjayan, 45, and Sujiphan Kumutsutthikul, 29, were found behind a shopping mall in Muang district at 7:30 am.

The woman was found with a slit-throat inside Surachet's car. Surachet suffered a broken neck and a knife was pierced through his throat. His neck was broken with a concrete bar that still lied on top of his neck when the body was found.

Police said Surachet apparently slashed the throat of Sujiphan and stabbed himself in the neck but he did not die so he walked to a nearby pile of concrete bars and raised one of the bar and let it fall on his neck.

Sujiphan's brother, Sukhaphachai Kumutsutthikul, 32, told police that his sister could not tolerate Surachet's jealousy and left him to stay with her family in Kanchanaburi but Surachet still came here to stalk her.

Sukhaphachai said Surachet picked up Sujiphan's from her family's home Monday evening before the two were fond dead.

Police found a suicide letter in Surachet's trouser pocket, saying he was sorry that his wife now had a new farang boyfriend whom she chatted with at the dating website.

very sad for the lady in question.

i could say stuff about blaming the 3rd party in this situation as per the course, but no doubt someone else will.

this doesn't really seem to add up to me

secondly was the woman deaf? I ask this because deaf people rarely develop enough written skills in any language to communicate with any sort of relative fluency.

I dont think you have to be deaf or marry a deaf person to work for a deaf association.

What a load of <deleted>. I grew up with deaf friends and hearing friends with deaf parents. Written communication was never an issue. (Before the internet or sms was widely available/used, the daily phone-conversations was done via text-to-speech-centrals (and still is for some).

Are you sure you want to go toe to toe with an Audiologist regarding the hearing impaired?

But if you don't bother with researching google, see for yourself, read the comments on the You Tube link written by the deaf.

What an arrogant and very stupid statement. Deaf people in universities worldwide (the hearing, seeing and talking type universities) will doubtless find your words either amusing, condescending, disgraceful or just plain dumb.

Qualifies for the "2010 <deleted> of the Year" post, at least so far

So you saw it on You Tube? Must be true then. Look over some of the posts we see on TV and you will see that quite a few members have diction problems

For the ignorant, my statement may seem arrogant and very stupid, but for those that have studied the deaf at an academic level, my statement would be considered as a fact.

http://gri.gallaudet.edu/Literacy/

http://www.handsandvoices.org/articles/res...2_marschark.htm

I used the YouTube statements as a quick example, and there are plenty more to be found.

Sure there are deaf students at college, not ALL deaf are prelingually deafened, and not all prelingually deaf have horrible English skills. I stated the "average" and in Thialand, I would even expect the stats to be worse.

My statements may seem cruel etc, but I live here, I work here, and have walked among the deaf schools, spoken with the teachers etc. It is part of what I do. So if you want to challenge what I have to say, just because it sounds so "un PC" offer some facts to refute my statements.

Truth of the matter is, my statment seems very logical to me. Ask me to form read or write a sentence in Spanish and I couldn't do it. I took Spanish in Junior High and High School, I even lived on the border of Mexico. But, Spanish is not my native language, nor did I care to use it much or really learn it for that matter. The same thing can be said for most of the prelingually deafened that use sign as their primary form of communication.

and your post should qualify as the most ignorant of 2010, but at least I hope you learned something.

No you do not have to be deaf or marry a deaf person to work for the deaf association, that is why I asked the question... Was she deaf?

Honestly folks give this a moment to gel.

Look at the reaction the TV members are having regarding the deaf and language skills. One would expect most TV members are educated to some degree, yet to learn that the deaf have little language skills beyond their own (sign) is a new concept to them. (so much so, some TV members have rushed to defend the deaf)

Do you think that a killer would know any better than an educated TV member? Do you think a member of the BIB would know any better?

My point is, this does not add up, dude stabs himself in the neck and then breaks his neck etc etc. The concept that the woman may have been prelingually deaf, which would make forming a relationship with a "falang" seem pretty improbable, is only another possible clue that there is more to this death than meets the eyes.

An almost complete and utter inability to communicate hasn't posed a problem to plenty of others on the internet dating sites.

Now that, I can not comment on, I have no experience with such types of sites.

It is sad what jealousy can do.  Two lives taken like that.

Although not on the high end of priorities here, I wonder about her chatmate.  He'll probably just quit getting messages and think she decided he wasn't right for her.  Of course, that might be the best thing rather than know what happened and feel a sense of guilt about the outcome (not that he should feel guilt, but that would be a natural reaction.)

Kind of a like a "butter fly effect." But I still contend that this is an awfully strange "murder."

Dakhar>> I trust my anecdotal evidence far better than your presumptions. And reading over some posts in this forum I would say that the gooblegoo-text you showed as evidence that hearing impaired would have a lower level of understanding of the syntax is of higher quality than some posts we have seen in this forum, by even British posters. Some people are lazy, some people are less talented. Would you presume I therefor only know people of higher education? No, since I used chat and email(well, private messages, was before the internet) to deaf friends since the age of some 15 and verbal communication before that. And I disagree with your assumption.

But I digress...

Yawn,

Like I said, bring out some research, if you can. (by qualified institutes rather than "I once knew, a guy" type research)

By the way, make sure the research is based on prelingually deafened & by deaf I mean profoundly deaf with a PTA of 90dB + & not some kid that wore a hearing aid on occassion living in your neighborhood.

(Good luck trying to find a more qualified institute over Gallaudet)
