On Wednesday, Police Lieutenant Colonel Saeksan from Huoy Yai Police Station was called to an area of wasteland in Kow Mae Geow sub-district following the discovery of a shallow grave by a local construction worker, which was thought to contain a body. Rescue Workers arrived and carefully removed the body of an unknown Thai Man who was thought to have been dead for at least 48 hours prior to the discovery. His body contained a number of tattoos, one of which indicated an address which is now being followed up by Police. Nearby Police found the charred remains of a blood-stained box which is thought to have been used to transport the man’s body to the location. It is thought that an attempt was made to burn the body before it was buried, to remove any means of identification, without success. A number of the tattoos indicated names of people which suggest he may have spent some time in Prison. For now Police believe the murder may be drug related. Attempts to identify the body are now underway as Police investigate the case further.

UPDATE

Shallow Grave Murder update

We have an update now on a story we featured on 21st January regarding the discovery of a body in a shallow grave in the Kow Mae Geow area on the outskirts of Pattaya. The heavily tattooed body showed signs of massive trauma and initially Police believed the death to be drug-related. It has now been revealed that the murder appears to be over the purchase of a firearm. On Monday, a press conference was held at Huoy Yai Police Station, led by Police Colonel Jumlong, the Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police who announced the arrest of two men in connection with the murder of the victim, named as Khun Jaroon aged 34. The two suspects in this murder case are Khun Prinyar aged 18 and Khun Cha-oom aged 44. They claim they were ordered by a third man, Khun Sootaerp aged 45, to kill the victim over the purchase of a firearm which did not go entirely to plan. Khun Sootaerp had ordered a firearm from the victim and paid him 30,000 Baht for it, however the weapon was an old model and not worth the money according to the two arrestees, who were ordered to lure the victim to the remote location and kill him. The pair used a large stone and other items to beat the man to death. They then hid the body and buried it the next day. Later on Monday, Khun Sootaerp gave himself up to Police but denied allegations he was involved in the murder. The investigation continues.
