I intend to buy an old Nissan nv as a runabout from a member of my extended family.

I am happy to hand over 130,000 Baht but I would just like to confirm the process, and timing, of the necessary paperwork to transfer the vehicle into my name.

Go to your local Transport Office and ask them what you need, your going to have to end up there anyway so get the info from horses mouth if going into falang name. If its a single cab i'm sure the family will be more than happy when you hand over 130,000 baht :) .

I guess a "Queen Cap" with automatic transmission, he can't find for that money. Usually single cap have two models, with and without power steering, anyway his choice. Actually you need a certificate of living from the immigration and the usual copies of your passport from your side and from the seller side you need to have the copy of ID Card and Family Papers (Tabien Ban. It's for me difficult to tell you where they and where you have to sign. Therefore you go together with the seller to the Transpo Office, they will tell you how to do, but make sure you have all the papers i mentioned before, so you can go ahead. A couple hours and you should be the owner in the blue book. Make sure the location mantioned in the certificate ov living is the same location as the car is registered, otherwise it not work. And of corse, one thing i almost forgot. They need the blue book. Make sure you get it, not that the car still in finance. So pay only money, if you see blue book. Don't forget to check the matching engine and VIN number (chassis number)
