opalhort
There has been no tax increase. Could it be that you got some bonus in Dec. which may have put you into a higher tax range and they adjusted accordingly? opalhor.
CWMcMurray
Does anyone know if it is possible for Husband and wife to file taxes separately here in Thailand?
opalhort
Yes, you can file separately or combined. Calculate what is better for you. We do it. opalhort
Sunbelt Asia
Dear Deejah, The tax rates for 2010 remain the same as in 2009. It may be the case that you joined your place of work in the middle or towards the end of last year, in which case the taxation would have been less as the first 150,000 Baht of earnings are in fact tax free in Thailand. Salary above this amount will be taxed on different rates depending upon your total annual earnings. For more information please contact Sunbelt Asia at your convenience. When it asks does your wife work [yes] or [no], what you write? and lastly when it asks her income, do you just leave it blank?
opalhort
I do not know if it is correct, but here is how we have been doing for the past few years without problems: on your and her 91 form state "married" and give name of spouse. on your form don't tag anything about wife working or income. on her form tag that you are working but we never state any salary (this is only done on my form). Again I have to point out that I'm not sure if this is correct but it has worked for us for many years. opalhort Edited February 5, 2010 by opalhort
