Tasers/ Stun Guns

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have had an email from a friend in England asking me whether taser/ stun guns the like of which you see being sold disguised as torches or mobile phones are legal in Thailand.

Strange request I know but this guy is a solicitor in England and he says that a client has the exclusive marketing rights for them should they be legal.

I personally would think that they are not as they seem to be sold from the beach road stalls in Pattaya rather than regular shops but short of going into a local cop shop and asking which I dont want to do, I have no idea how to find out.

He has also asked me to ascertain whether a licence is needed for one (if they are legal) and whether they can be sold on the internet.

Any legal eagles out there with an answer to this?

I'll take 3.

Where do you buy them over here :)

Your Solicitor friend is a JERK, and has no idea of the law in England.

They are NOT legal in England and they are not legal here either, although you can buy them from some jerks selling them around the bars here, imagine using one on someone with a pacemaker, he would be dead straight away :) .

Tell your friend to snap out of it. :D

I'm pretty sure the tasers on sale down Sukhumvit aren't anything like as powerful as those sold to law enforcement in the West. There are plenty of vids on youtube showing people letting their friends shock them with Bangkok type tasers more than once and you wouldn't do that with a real one.

I know a solicitor as well you can tell your friend if he want to buy the exclusive marketing rights to organize BBQ and Picnics on Mars.

Check out e-bay.com's US listings... they sell the full strength ones, but only inside the USA.

In the UK they are illegal to own or carry.

Police in the UK now use projectile tasers, but they're very dangerous.

Most of the ones you see on market stalls in Thailand are underpowered. That won't stop UK customs from prosecuting you for smuggling one though.

I think that all U.K. solicitors know that possession of stun guns is illegal in the U.K.

Our Canadian police like to use the tasors. If you hit a guy 6 or 7 times with one he eventually stops moving... and breathing.

You can get the same effect with a big stick.
