I know it's cheap to fly but I've got plenty of time. The last time we did this was about 5 years ago and wondering if it's still pretty much the same routine. Thinking maybe of flying to Penang and taking the train back.

Is it just me - but where have the rest of the postings in this thread gone?

I read it about a week ago and it included one person recommending specific seats on the train. Now I can not find it.

This thread has been brought up in the MODS forum regarding previous posts. But to aswer the OPs question. I believe you can still do the train thing from Butterworth. But saying that. Its been a few years since i done it.

Any chance of reviving the posting that gave a recommendation as to the best seats to book between BKK and Butterworth? I want to make a booking tomorrow.

I suspect that post was in another thread but have not been able to find it - believe it was about DC outlets for computer hookup and were the higher number seats in each carriage - starting at about 23 (but may not have right number there).
