Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot said the the activity should help increase awareness of Thai consumers and tourists to "say no" to illegal products. AsiaCheese
Doesn't compute: destroyed 217,686 items, seized 5.03 million items. Did the rest of the stuff find its way back to the market stalls by itself?

brahmburgers
I have to agree, it wouldn't surprise if a sizable portion of the supposed 5.03 million seized items get back in the marketplace. What was seized and where? Were the items (purportedly) destroyed in an environmentally sound way? recycled? ....or was there a big plastic-burning bonfire? p.s. there are a number of ways that CD's can be made in to artistic/useful creations.
