Hello,

I lost my job August last year.

Before that, the company I worked for helped me out getting a fresh Non B visa.

The guy who took care of the company's visa stuff, never informed me or the owner about

the rules. He assured that it was perfectly legal, and since he's been doing stuff for the company

for several years, I trusted him.

Well, I was naive, and should have read the rules myself.

A friend who did read the rules, told me that in no way I could be unemployed, and not go on visa runs.

I called the visa guy and he said it was bs, and I shouldn't worry, but after reading several similar stories

on this forum, I can tell that it's all wrong.

So, what to do now?

I have a Non B, 7 app. 7 months left, I have been doing my 90 days reporting without problems.

I'm worried that if I go on visa run now, they will question my existing visa and start to dig into it,

and then notice the missing stamps.

My plan was from the beginning to set up a company and be legal that way, I just didn't rush it

knowing that I had several months to do it, but maybe it time...

I will be grateful for advises, thanks.

Since you are doing 90 day reports I guess you are on an extension of stay based on employment. You have to leave the country the same day your employemnt ends, or you are on overstay.

In your case, ask the employer for a letter stating which date your employment ends and visit the labour office to cancel your work permit and next leave the country or visit immigration for a 7 day extension of stay. If your employemnt ends before tou go to immirgation you will have to oay 500 baht for every day you stay longer in the country, with a maximum of 20,000 baht.

As your employment seems to have ended about six months ago I would put 20k in my pocket and try to make a trip to obtain a new visa from the airport and hope they do not notice you are leaving without a re-entry permit (they often do on land border) and you obtain a new visa for return. If they question and find let them know you did not know (which is true) and expect the worst case would be they provide the 20k fine for overstay.

Thank you both for the advices.

Very much appreciated.

I’d take a monk to the Immigration, or anybody else who’s trustworthy. It happened here that a guy was on a few years overstay and he could come back to Thailand with a proper visa from his country. Please be aware that you’ll have to leave the country immediately. Good luck.
