webfact
Iranian nabbed with 3kg of 'ice' BANGKOK: -- (TNA) – An Iranian man was arrested Wednesday at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Airport for allegedly smuggling nearly three kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as "ice," worth Bt10 million (US$300,000). Noroozi Mojtaba, 34, who arrived in Bangkok from the United Arab Emirates' Dubai, was detained by customs officials at the international arrival terminal. The suspected drug smuggler designed his baggage in order to conceal the drug from screening. According to the investigation, Mr Noroozi said that he was a tailor in Dubai and travelled to Thailand to buy cloth. He said his friend asked him to smuggle the drug and to drop it at a Pratunam area apartment without being paid in return. However, the authorities did not believe his confession and sent him to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau to find accomplices from Middle East linked to drug smuggling in the kingdom. Customs Department Director-General Somchai Sajjapong reported that the agency has impounded exhibits valued at Bt52 million (over $1.5 million) in 15 drug cases since October 2009. tonglen
Off to Bang Kwang....The Big Tiger, yeppers. On a lighter note, he can make you a suit in 3 minutes or less.....but with jagged sewing lines from the tweaking shakes. Read Warren Fellows book: 4,000 Days. I picked it up one morning and never put it down til that night when it was finished. It would make anyone choose another, less risky career. MUYTHAI
Has anyone explained what the logic is of smuggling ice into Thailand when so much of it is already available through cross country SEA drug cartels? Yeah...hard to understand, but there are small local markets and if someone can get meth/ice cheap from a supplier from "their" home country and they have a small loca l(Thai) market they can earn much money. Meth is pouring over the border from China, but some large dealers don't have access to large amounts of the Chinese mafia meth. Ice became very popular in Hawaii about 20 years ago. It used to be dropped out of planes from the mainland USA at night into remote areas where the receivers would be waiting. I knew a young woman at BYU (Morman college...of all things ) that knew locals that were involved in some of the ice dropping operations.
