And where exactly is the scam in all this ? :) Where I come from it is called busking. You are free to either give them a little money for their effort or not. No scam. they play you can pay or not. I forgot though this is Thailand where EVERYTHING is a scam regardless!

As they asked for money for a supposed charity (see OP) then it can not be referred to as busking. I've never seen a busker yet who donates his funds to charity , Bob Geldoff excluded !

H20Dunc collecting for a charity that isn't real is illegal. Busking means you play music and people can choose to give you money or not.

sticking a book in my face and saying it is for poor thai kids then saying write down an amount and sign it isn't busking.

oh and as they are not thai and as far as i know they don't issue work permits for busking i presume this would also be illegal.

and what country is asking for money for a charity called busking ? at a guess not an english speaking country.

this should bean easy case. call the BIB and get their permits checked out. Stick em on the black list and send them back. by the way i saw another scam. there was a picture next to an ATM machine in lamui. head line " forang asking for a few hundred baht because he has lost his wallet and phone " apperently he has been doing this for a while. so this proves he is guilty. how long would wuld u need to beg if u lost your wallet and phone. 1 day ? 1 week ? 1 month ? 1 year?

anyway it is on an ATM machine in lamui next to 7/11 on the ring road Bangkok Bank ATM machine. there is a car rent shop and a motor cross track opposite.

as i am aware this is an old scam. same thing happened to me in amsterdam about 15 years ago. some scottish geezer doing the same. thing. begging for money cause he has lost his ticket and passport. he is still in dam cetnral station now. poor bloke. still hasn't got enough money to go home.
