Its 120 bht now for 1 day, but actually skytrain is expensive. If it was cheaper and they put more carraiages onthen more thais would use it and help withtraffic congestion. Its not just me say this a recent Bangkok transport survey by a Thai group said the same thing.

Expensive? I buy a 40 trip pass for 800 baht or so. That's 20 baht a trip - less than half a pound.

How would making it cheaper get more cars off the road? Only the buses may see fewer riders.
