BangRon
Anyone know of chart that cross references, identifies what each of the 13 VIN digit codes on Kawasaki motorbikes represent? Seeking verification data on country manufactured, factory ID, model year, engine type, etc… for a temporary export import bond needed. Seems Kawasaki bikes in Thailand have a 13 digit VIN number on engine and frame, and also in green book registration, not your typical 17 digit USDOT VIN where each character identifies DNA of vehicle, with each code having a particular purpose? katabeachbum
EX650DEA46XXX is the VIN for my Ninja 650R. Not much info in that one. Cars made for LOS also miss much info, they use zero in several positions
BangRon
Some Kawasaki Thai dealer info, based on his beliefs; no digit on VIN refers to model year or factory on the Thai built bikes; first 5 digits are model, last five are build order sequence, the 7th character is either an “ E ‘ or “ – “ , referring to engine or chassis number, this dealer had no idea about 6 and 8 digits on these thai 13 number vins. Stated that when getting first green book Thai registration, bike will be registered as per date year of registration, and not based on bike model year. Acknowledged that there is a separate Kawasaki code issued in warranty book (not on bike, not on registration) referring to model year, examples: EX250KAF is 2010 EX250K9F is 2009 EX650DAF is 2010
