I'm not sure this is the right forum, mods please move to a better one if you see fit.

I've got a 24v (2.0Ah) battery from a big SDS dewalt drill that no longer takes a charge. The replacement fee for a battery from dewalt is an absolute fortune and I've read on the Interweb that it is fairly straightforward to replace the cells. I've cracked open the case and it has 10 Nicad cells.

Does anyone know of a repair shop who could do the replacement of the cells or a shop that sells them so i could do it. I also need the metal strip that goes between the cells too. Anybody used Amorn for battery repair?

Amorn service do cell replacements for PC batteries (not just supply the cells), they fixed my ancient Dell laptop battery, they can likely do the same for your drill battery.

Let's try this in DIY :)

good man, cheers Crossy!

I forgot to say I live in BKK.

There's an Amorn service in Fortune Town, top floor opposite end to Tesco. :)

BTW, with 10 NiCd cells it's 12V (1.2V per cell)

The one at Zeer (basement) is bigger, a better bet if it's local (where are you?) :)

They took a couple of days to do the batt, sadly I don't remember how much but it was a LOT cheaper than even pattern batteries.

I bought a replacement sealed lead-acid battery for one of my powerful hand-held search lights from Amorn a year or so ago, 6Volt about 5Ah for 240 Baht, local brand if I recall, probably not the finest quality but it works well for me and gives a beam out to the Wat about 1km away :-)

I went to Amorn yesterday they were umming and ahhing about the repair. It has 10 2.4v cells and it would need two sub C cells in line as they had no direct replacement. The main repair guy wasn't in, so I need to go back and speak to him next week.

It's never simple is it!

Today the staff went to Amorn in Old Siam Mall, ChinaTown. Amorn took 2 hrs to replace the 15 cells for 2400 Baht.
