I was there. Had to get up at 4 AM :D as it started at 6 AM. Our Bike Club helped wth marshalling the race. Thank God I didn't run. Better on a Harley. :) But a good time had by all!!!

Congratulations for finishing! Well done. :D

Just noticed the title of this thread: Samui maraTHONG. :D I thought a thong was a skimpy bit of underwear and marathon was named after a battle between the Spartans and the Persians in about 436 BC. If my history is right. Some bloke was told to run to Athens to tell the Greeks they'd won the Battle of Marathon. It was a 42 kilometer run. He arrived, told 'em they'd won and fell dowm dead. :) Mind you, a marathong could be quite interesting!!! :D

Sorry BigC, if you did 4 1/2 hours you'd have come 2nd. Only 11 finishers out of 35 starters. 1st in 3:34 (Thai guy), 2nd 4:21 (farang woman).

So why make it up??

Congrats to all that ran!!!

There were some SNAFUs but it was the first of this kind of event and I was talking to the organisers about this afterwards. Lessons learnt. There was also some tension because another event organiser was planning to do something like this in April!!!
