I've never understood the attraction of bitter mellon. I make this, but only with mara wahn. I also use seaweed in the stock, but I don't think that's very traditional.

seaweed is not far fetched... some Thai will add stuffed squid as well.... and I think it is an acquired taste

I like bitter melon.To get some of the bitter out of it,if that is what you dislike,soak the cut melon in cold water for a short time.Bitter melon will help with the lose of weight also.The posters recipe is one of my favorits.

Bitter gourd/melon can also be taken to lower PSA levels in body. (A large slice every day is enough fresh or in a soup).

I like this dish a lot also. The missus makes it very tasty from scratch, but you can also buy pre-prepared from Carrefour if you're lazy.

I also like fresh bitter gourd in chicken noodle soup.
