Obtaining Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi I have another post regarding my non immi "o" visa but as it has expired now I will need to get a tourist visa, or any kind of visa that is longer than 30 days. Does anyone have any experience of where to go and how easy is it to get? I have friends down south who use tourist visa and i'm sure I remember one of them had to go to Penang to obtain it. Any info much appreciated. Most of my time is spent in Bangkok or Krabi so if anyone has done it before please let me know. Thnaks

You cannot get a tourist visa within Thailand, you would indeed have to travel to a neighbouring country and apply at the Thai embassy/consulate.

But, as per the other thread, if you are married to a Thai national, you can get a 60 day extension at your local immigration office.

As you spend most of your time in Bangkok, this will most likely be immigration in Chaeng Wattana.

You will need your passport, passport pictures of you, your marriage papers, your wife's ID (Id card and housebook) and your wife herself will have to come along. Costs 1900 Baht.

Thanks alot, thats made me feel alot better. So will it just be an extra 60 days added to my non-immi "o" visa? I take it I can go anytime aslong as it's before the last date stamped in my passport? Thanks again.

I would go as soon as possible as your current permission to stay expires on 27th March. You will not lose any days by applying early. The 60 days will be tagged onto the end of your current permission to stay.
