Does anybody have experience with a US (or very well spoken English) attorney that handles Visas to the US?

I am amazed that the ones I have spoke to here in BKK are clueless to things that I already know just from reading some immigration laws. Each time I speak to one, I give them the story and am told that "this" will not be an issue and then I let them know it already has been an issue and they start double talking.

My main concern is an attorney who has experience dealing with the exemptions under past criminal acts or moral turpitude. There are two very clear exemptions. One regarding hardship and the other regarding if the single crime committed did not result in doing more than 6-months in jail and the maximum penalty could not have been 1-year.

I need an attorney experienced with the crime committed being pretty much a misdemeanor.

PS. The type of Visa is not important at this point but would prefer initially having her go for a tourist visa which should not be a problem with her ties here (job, daughter, home owner) and her age (36). Also, the crime was using a forged document and nothing to do with things that get you automatically banned such as prostitution or human trafficking.

American lawyer with many years experience in Bangkok, in partnership with his Thai wife lawyer and other Thai lawyers. I only used them for a prenup, but I suspect they will have seen most things on US visa applications also. Google their web-site

Please explain who has the infraction: is it you (I am assuming the prospective petitioner), or the beneficiary? This is an important distinction as it will have a significant impact upon the posture of the case.
