I'm Swiss citizen (48) married with my Thaiwife (25) for 2 years already, registered the marriage in Swiss Embassy, 2 years ago. We living and working in Thailand, i have my own small company and WP since 3 years. My wife is registered in the company as well and is active in the company. Would like to take a holiday trip to Hawaii, see friends, with my wife, if it's possible. Doesn't matter the date of the holidays as we can arrange it, the way we want. How it's the easiest way and how have to do the procedure to get her a Visa. Is it possible from Thailand or do i have to go with her in Switzerland to apply at the US Embassy there for a Visa? I my self don't have any expirience about US Visa, because i don't need one, as i go on the Visa Waifer Program and get my 90 days anyway and i never stayet more than 90 days per year in US.

She applies at the US Embassy in Bangkok. Proof of her job and time/means for vacation will be important and your status as her husband living/working here should also help so let her have supporting paperwork on that. I don't believe she will have a problem getting a visa.

Ditto to above based on my living in Hawaii for many years and Thai friends visiting me and my Thai wife while we lived in Honolulu. The visiting Thai friends (who had good middle class jobs in Thailand) didn't have problems getting a tourist visa...just required the paperwork and visits to the US Embassy.

What's the chances of getting a Thai bar girl a U.S. tourist visa? Her bank account is minimal so I would give her money to deposit for airfare and travel expenses. It sounds like a long shot but just wondering if anyone else has had experience with a similar situation.

Bob

It can be done, I've done it myself. You'd likely need to build up a travel history with her to other visa-requiring countries, show a substantial relationship over an extended period of time (e.g. +1 year), and/or build up her bank account or get her a home. Focus on any of those 3 activities or work on them equally and it's likely her application will be successful. Others here enthusiastically talk about how important it is for her to have a 'good job' or a degree from a 'reputable university', blah blah, but it's not necessarily required (my gf is and was unemployed and never finished junior school, and we stated so on her application; moreover she had only 60k baht in the bank...though we traveled a lot and had a long relationship). To answer your questions though, merely giving her a few grand for airfare, etc, after a couple visits to Thailand won't work.

To the OP, I concur that you not being American greatly improves your wife's chances and she'll likely be successful.

Make sure you go with her and show your work permit for Thailand.

Thanks for all the replys. I will try.

They do not allow the husband in the interview for Thai wife visa. Sorry.

Oh, i'm not worry about that, becasue there is nothing to hide. The only problem is that she isn't that good in english. She can speak, but barely writing or reading.

The interview will be done in Thai or English which either one is suitable but you will not be allowed.
