Your Experience With Sygic Gps Maps (thailand)

Featured Replies

Has anyone had experience with new Sygic gps maps in Thailand. you can get for i-phones and fitted car type gps players.

I am currently running a Polnav gps map in Thailand. My Polnav map is brilliant for this country, Satellite finds fix in less than 1 minute, never lost signal, always gives good information.

I am very pleased with polnav map, when you get to turns, map enlarges to show clear instructions, lane changes, directions and voice commands.

But my map is 1 year old now (Q2 2009 february 2009). But no updates! and don't know when polnav will issue new map for Thailand , they are indespute with map, suppliers, makers?

I have been offered sygic, map for Thailand, for in dash car player?

Any experience with this type map, satellite warm up times, enlarged features, turns, etc. (even with i-phone) same format, do you lose satellite at all.

Or does anyone have idea for new Polnav maps,

Cheers

Just received user manual from Sygic - looks ok,

I have been using Sygic on the iPhone for a while now. It uses the maps from TeleAtlas (owned by TomTom). Initially it had a little bug related to playing music over the car stereo while using the Sygic software. Their support team was very responsive and they had an upgrade shortly after that solved that. The navigation screens are very nice. I drover from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and used it in the hills outside Chiang Mai as well. Every little road was available in the map. My map on the Garmin unit did not have this at all. (ok that unit is several years old, I don't know if includes it now). But overall the look is very pleasant. Not too much info that could be distracting. Lot's of POI's included already which you can switch on/off on the map per category.

TeleAtlas map does have more road detail in rural areas than the ESRI map installed to Garmin GPS units sold in Thailand. This has been well documented on ThaiVisa and remains the same even on the latest ESRI v10.1 map. However, a lot of the extra roads are not paved (dirt tracks) and you really should have a 4WD to use them.
