March 20, 201016 yr Hi, Does anybody know which imm office to apply for Ed visa in BKK? I recieved the docs. yesterday from CMU, but I wasn't informed where to apply in Bkk, I need to be in BKK Monday & CMU are not answering any of their phones today.
March 20, 201016 yr You don't apply in Bangkok, you have to go abroad with the papers from CMU and apply at a Thai embassy or consulate. Vientianne is a good option for you. What kind of visa are you now on?
March 20, 201016 yr Author Yes. Consulates issue Visas not Immigration. I was told I can apply in BKK via CMU.

March 20, 201016 yr Only a Thai embassy or consulate can issue a visa. In some cases it MIGHT possible to convert a tourist visa or visa exempt entry to a non-ED visa, provided you still have at least 21 days permitted to stay left AND we are talking about a genuine university course. CMU also offers language courses, they won't do it for such course. It will be up to immigration and you have to go back after 1 week to get the conversion (if awarded).
March 20, 201016 yr There is only one office in Bangkok for general immigration use and that is Chiang Watanna Road. It is at the very end of Soi 7 (Soi starts next to CAT building) and is the huge building on the right. Immigration is in the South/East corner of the entry level floor (2nd floor).

March 21, 201016 yr THANKS for the POSTIVE REPLY. Finally a positive reply. Easy there, the previous posters weren't trying to post negative or misleading info... FYI & FWIW: most foreigners who go the ED visa route use PRIVATE thai language schools which while are recognized by the Ministry of Education can only provide you paperwork to secure the ED visa OUTSIDE thailand at any thai embassy. Very few foreigners (at least one's who post on here) attend a REAL Thai University. CMU, Payap, Thammasat, Ramkhamhaeng, Mahidol, etc give you paperwork which you can use inside the country to 'convert' what ever permission of stay you're on into an ED visa, if you meet the requirements. Go easy on the posters who're just tryin to help, okay? I'd go much harder on CMU for not answer their phones or giving you good info out of the gate.
