So, you check in, leave your hold baggage and then walk to the terminal.

Before you pass through the scanners, you are asked to discharge your guns into the blue bin full of sand.

OK so far, happy to do that. Will your fellow passengers be happy to see you do that?

Now what happens to your empty gun? Do you send it through the scanner, pick it up and take it on the aircraft or what???

Would a couple of bullets in your shoes be picked up by the scanners?

Security (or lack of it) is more of a concern to me than discussions about having to walk a couple of hundred metres after check in or the cost of my flight.

i was there before a man had a gun in his bag. the man insisted that he did not have it. the airport staff asked if he wanted the staff to open the bag and show him. then he agreeed he had one. so he had to check the gun in serpatly and pick it up in bangkok. i asked why he wasn't arrested. apprently he was was a copper or he had a permit for the gun he wss just lazy to check it in the proper way. i don't find anything wrong with there sceurity. they seem to use common sense. i had a knuckle duster in my pocket and a few knives. i forgot theu were in my pocket. in the uk i would have been banged up. the staff felt sorry for me.

they told me to put it into my check luggage then that would be alright. the security guard the lady really liked my knife she said how nice it looked to i gave it to her.

i have no ambition to take over a plane. the weapons will not be a hazard if they are stored underneath the plane. unlike the uk where they panic if u bring a pocket knife or u have a beard or your shoe laces are too long.

nothing wrong with there security only thing wrong is there prices. i must agree the service is top. prices could be a bit more complermizing

yes. souvenirs mainly. also i like the 1 punch KO. knuckle dusters help gurentee that. though i not carry them any more. as the police have a habbit of making life hard for forangs if i give them an excuse. not that i randomly bash people though i have been in some spots of bother before when people just start on me for no reason. example. some english man stopped his car in the middle of chaweng beach road and went bastic on me. he was about 3 times bigger than me. he punched me i kicked him. then he pulled out a Knife. he though that he had hidden it but i sorte it hiddin in his hand. he said something to winde me up hope i would charge him. then i realise he wanted me to charge at him so he could plungle me. nothing wrong with have a knuckle duster. they don't kill just help defuse a situation. like any weapon if used for the right reason then no problem

Bangkok Airways: General Conditions of Carriage

8.3.2 Firearms and ammunition other than for hunting and sporting purposes are prohibited from carriage as Baggage. Firearms and ammunition for hunting and sporting purposes may be accepted as Checked Baggage. Firearms must be unloaded with the safety catch on, and suitably packed. Carriage of ammunition is subject to ICAO and IATA regulations as specified in 8.3.1.1.

I wouldn't worry about a gun aboard. I am always much more amazed to how low planes fly over public areas before landing. It would be far easier to shoot and kill a pilot of a plane (I think that woudl result in a crash most of the time) from the safety of your car with the plane coming over low, than to smuggle a gun aboard and breach the secure cockpit...

anyway guns don't kill people. people kill people. u could be just as dangerous with a long shoe lace or a hard back book.or a loud speaker with radio head playing. how many people have killed themselves listening to radio head. quality music though. suicides aside

I think I made the point that your hold baggage has already been checked in BEFORE you are asked to discharge all weapons. That being the case you could not put them in your hold baggage.

Also to the point, regardless of whether or not the gun is allowed on board would anyone, including families on holiday with small children be happy to see and hear guns being discharged within feet of them in the terminal building even if they were being fired in to sand?

I don't think so.

Slightly off topic, but I beleive there used to be a ferry to BKK and I think Pattaya too. If so, why did it stop? Imagine. Sleep the night and disembark with your vehicle the following morning :) . That would give Bangkok Airways a run for their money. Very good for families on a budget!!!

You don't mention whether there is a bar onboard. This would be crucial to the trip imo. That or a cabin.

A better option than the train for me. So its not running now? :D

I started a topic about USM security some time ago - was shot down in flames.

gotta face facts - it may be aesthetically pleasing but, in this day and age, the security could and should be tighter.

the open air feel to the airport and the half-ar5ed body scans aren't exactly reassuring.

No offence BigC but you sound like a knob or a plastic gangster (which one you decide)

thats rich ccoming from someone that calls them self chiang mai sausage. are u a knob or do u have a plasti sausage

Also what do u mean by No offence. u r mixed up sauasge boy sorry i mean chiang mai sausage boy. no offense bythe way.

just for the record i ain't no knob or a plastic gangster. i am just a nomal person who does what ever i want. also someone that is fustated with the stupid laws of the country that i have abandond. i like the fact that u can stick up for yourself in thailand without worry about being sent to prison just for protecting what u have worked hard for. " in a legal way".

why should i let people take stuff off me when i have worked hard to earn it. in the uk someone tried to rob me. i protected myself and i was arrested. sometimes it is nice when the system works in my favour.

some local thai people have licences for guns. on the licence it says that they are alloud to use the gun to protect their land. which from my point of view makes perfect sense. rarther than back in the uk the crooks have more guns than the BIB.

then u get attacked by the local yob. u relatiat maybe even kill one of them then u the victim gets sent down. well done u got me started thanks. need a chill pill laters
