Thai Charities

Featured Replies

Anyone ever dealt with or know if this child sponsorship charity is legit:

If anyone else has done any child sponsorships in Thailand, would appreciate some feedback or advice.

Cheers!

According to the website, the Thai Children's Trust UK is primarily the UK funding arm of the Father Ray Foundation and the (Redemptorist) School for the Blind in Pattaya -- I am not familiar with the UK arm but I am familiar with the work of the Pattaya School and its Director Mrs. Aurora Sribuapan, whose reputation is impeccable... There is also a USA 501c3 funding arm

Anyone in Thailand however -- tax implications aside -- can visit and make any contribution directly to the School or the Foundation

We have not done child sponsorship, but we have adopted a 10 year old girl from Thailand. We worked through Holt International and their partner, Holt Sahathai Foundation (HSF). http://www.holtinternational.org/thailand/

From their website: HSF serves a large number of vulnerable children through a variety of programs including adoption, pregnancy counseling, foster care, educational sponsorships and outreach services for children in hospitals and orphanages. Many of these programs help birth families to stay together through counseling and assistance.

Holt has a stellar reputation within the international adoption community.

Yes.....This is a very good charity, started many years ago by Father Ray Brennan, who was an American priest ... I work here for another Thai childrens Foundation and can vouch for this charity and orphanage..

check out a thread on this topic that is running (or was very recently running) in the chiang mai sub-forum
