Good Hospital In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

What's a good hospital here in Bangkok, Sukhumvit (near Soi 10?) for foreigners (no offense to anyone, or anything)?

Edit::

I was just told by someone there's a hospital called Sukhumvit Hospital, does anyone know if it's good?

well, there is many good hospital in Thailand, and in BKK. just depend on what you need them for. you should be more precise ie. which kind of hospital do you want - the price is not a guaranty of good practise!

From what I've heard the Sukhumvit hospital is not a bad one...

Thanks! I'm having respiratory problems, kinda like panic attacks, but it's been three days I can't breathe well. I guess I just need to see a general doctor, I'm not sure.

I would recommend the BHN Hospital, near Silom / Sathorn in Convent Road.

Traveling from Sukhumvit Soi 10 to Sukhumvit Hospital or BNH Hospital isn't much difference.

Bumrungrad Hospital is the closest in Soi Nana and probably one of the most "foreigner friendly" hospitals in BKK.

Patient management system is extremely efficient and, despite the current high patient load, waiting times are not an issue.

Maybe my senility is advancing but I would give more attention to the quality of the doctor rather than a hospital. Some of the junior doctors I have come across in 'posh' private hospitals in LoS would have trouble in getting a Boy Scout First Aid badge.

BNH is a good address, I knwo Bumrungrad very well as I have spent many times there already, but I am switching since it is more efficient and doctors competent. Besides, they do not make you wait forever.

if not massively serious, i'd recommend Bangkok Christian on Silom Road. If serious then Brumungrad Hospital. Just be careful wrt medicines since most docs seem to have to reach a quota and/or get a percentage of sales

Hello Pudding,

In general, there are usually two areas to look at with this kind of problem, either an ENT issue, or a pulmonary (lung) issue - you can probably tell by the way you are breathing.

If you are unsure, then I personally like to recommend a general practitioner first. However, from the little bit you mentioned, it does sound like it is more in the lungs, in which case I would like to recommend either (in alphabetical order) Dr. Eakachai Sathianpitayakul or Dr. Wudthichai Suttithawil.

You can check their credentials at: http://www.bumrungrad.com/overseas-medical...r-a-doctor.aspx and using the "Pulmonology" selection under "Medicine".

Best regards,

Scott @ Bumrungrad

Thank you very much, bumrungrad!

I'm unsure if my lungs is the problem, as I can breathe through my nose, but I feel like I'm not getting enough air, and I feel like my throat is semi-blocked.

I will try the general practitioner first, as soon as I can. : )

Thanks again!

Hello Pudding,

Not a problem.

From what you just mentioned, you could also go directly to an ENT. I was brought up with going to a GP first for everything, so it is not necessarily the "Bumrungrad Way", but my way.

If you do go to an ENT, you can try Dr. Chairat Neruntarat or Dr. Khemchart Tonsakulrungruang.

Good luck with everything, hope you feel better soon!

ฺBest regards,

Scott @ Bumrungrad

Could anyone tell me if I have to register at Bumrumgrad hospital to see a doctor? If so, how much is it? I don't like bringing too much money with me since I'm extremely paranoid of getting mugged or losing money.

Edit:

Bumrumgrad AND BNH info.

You have to register (at BRH and any other hospital) as everything from then on is done electronically based on your hospital number, date of birth and personal photograph; this does not involve any cost.

Budget on about a max of Bht 1500 for a specialist consult.
