There's one in Phuket town near Sapan Hin (sp?)

There's one up near the Laguna resort in Chang Talay near a small driving range up there.

There's a big swimming pool at Darasamut school near Central festival. I have heard that the public can use it but don't know if it's true.

I saw someone giving kids swimming lessons there already.

We often go to resorts where they let you swim if you buy a drink or meal.

Or some of them ask you for 30 to 50 baht.

Good luck.

Saphan Hin is a very under-used 50m pool, often go there to find one or two adults lap swimming and a few kids. Nice shaded grandstand if you want to watch your kids swim, water is clean, there are kickboards for public use, well-worn but they do the job.

We have seen swim classes there once, suggest you ask the guy on reception.

First time we went he asked if we were swim club members (they must get an entry fee discount) so on that basis there must be a swim club based there.

Another option is the Phuket Lifeguard Club based at Patong they have a 'nippers' club for children http://www.phuketlifeguard.com/ this is a volunteer group not to be confused with the dramas of paid lifegaurds on beaches.

or, I haven't got a copy of the P Gazz, but there was a place/gym in Chalong near roundabout advertising recently, have qualified coaches for swim lessons

in my opinion teach kids to swim in the ocean from a young age , they will be better swimmers and have no fear of water , as a child in Australia growing up on the West coast , school swimming lessons and swimming carnivals were all in the ocean , in all sorts of conditions ............. did the same to my kids and will also one day teach the grand kids when they arrive ..... i also think the Thai government have a duty of care to provide trained and paid life guards on all popular swim beaches ...the death toll is un acceptable ....

Cheers CdM

Most of the Phuket Villas have swimming pools. 50 Baht if not a resident of the villas. (Villa 3, Villa 5, Villa 2 and Phuket Villa California). They clean all pools every Monday. All have small pools for toddlers.

Go towards Phuket town from Chalong circle, Chaofa Rd East, after a mile or so there is a soi that takes you to Wat Chalong [on the left], turn there and you will see a closed supermarket with a big sign that says Andamart.

Above the shop there is a 25m swimming pool, very clean and cheap. They have a swimming club and do lessons.

Saphan Hin

the area between Phuket Town and sea - immigartion office and motor vehicle registration places are nearby just keep heading towards the bay, there are several sports complexes there including the pool.

Don't know how to paste Google maps, . . . , just search Saphan Hin - pool easy to see on their map next to a big sports field.

There is an excellent swim teacher in Rawai/Naiharn/Chalong. She teaches children individually or in groups or adults. Any level.

Send me a personal message if you want her number.
