Laundry In Bkk

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I will be moving to bkk shortly. For the first few weeks I'll be staying at a hotel, so until I get settled I'll need to get my laundry done.

Working a 5 day week, I suppose I'll have 5 shirts and 5 pairs of trousers per week that will need doing.

Can anyone suggest a convenient and economical place to get this done, and roughly how long should I expect it to take i.e. 1 day etc.

I'll be staying around Suk Soi 11.

I am basically trying to gauge how many changes of work clothes I will need based on a laundry rota.

Many thanks in advance!

As you probably know, the hotel will almost certainly have a service. This is pricier, but easy.

I live nearby 11 and use the one on 19. A little bit up on the left.

I find it v. good and quite cheap and returns are the next day.

However, I am sure there will be one nearer to you, maybe in 11.

Yes, hotel laundry is, or can be, quite pricey as you say....... convenient if you're staying on busienss for a couple of days and need a quick turn around, but impractical if stayi ng long term.

I'll get the Mrs. to scout of Soi 11 for a place, but if not we can look for the place you mention on Soi 19

THanks again.

My Niece stayed on Soi 11 last year when she visited with her BF. They went to a local Luandry place, sorry I don't know the name, but they completly ripped her off. They had about one load of regular luandry and when they went to pick it up the place had "Dry-Cleaned" all of it and presented them a bill for 2,000. Baht. So please be very careful of Luandry places on Soi 11.

Same old thing. If a Thai person had taken the laundry, it would not have happened.

Two thousand baht for a load of regular? Disgraceful.

There is so much talk about Thailand's tourist industry declining. This experience is one reason why this is happening.

We are not as stupid (or wealthy) as some of these greedy half-wits think.

Ditto -

My Mrs. is Thai anyway, so we should escape the "special farang price" routine. What's worse (for the scam artists) is that my Mrs. is a westernised thai at this stage, having been here for several years (since about 2001) - so she'd got the "farang" attitude and the thai savvy .....

Pretty wise to this type of carry on myself - but it is a very good point...... and a very unfortunate truth......

My mrs makes a list of what she sends to the laundry also.... i.e. 6 mens t-shirt, 4 underwear, etc. and when she gets there she takes it out of the bag and counts it count in front of them .... all with the thai friendly friendly attitude, but no one is left in any doubt as to what exactly was put in and what exactly comes out :D

Cheers for the heads up though all the same :)
