Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, has publicly welcomed the new ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. A statement from the US Embassy reveals Rubio's optimism about the recent General Border Committee meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Analysts view the meeting as a crucial step in solidifying the ceasefire and establishing ASEAN's observation mechanism.

President Trump and Secretary Rubio have expressed their expectations for Cambodia and Thailand to fulfil their ceasefire promises. The United States appreciates the roles played by both nations in easing tensions, and Rubio has applauded their commitment to peace.

The US Secretary of State also highlighted Malaysia’s pivotal role, acknowledging Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's leadership in hosting the successful ceasefire discussions.

The ceasefire comes after increasing border tensions had many worried about the potential for conflict. The presence of ASEAN observers aims to ensure both sides adhere to the agreement.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was specifically praised for co-organising a crucial special meeting with the United States on July 28, which lays the groundwork for these recent developments.

This agreement signals a moment of hope in the region, where many look forward to lasting peace. Malaysia's direction of the talks illustrates the importance of regional cooperation. By welcoming these efforts, Rubio demonstrates the US's supportive role in fostering stability in Southeast Asia, reported The Nation.

The ceasefire's success could lead to improved relations and economic opportunities between Cambodia and Thailand, two nations with deep historical connections. Observers now await further developments as ASEAN's involvement continues to play a supportive role in maintaining peace.

And no dubt he'll be the next to claim trump should be given the nobel peace prize for his contribution to this cause.

In reality trump did nothing, he desn't even know wher thailand or cambodia are located. and any praise should be given to the Malaysian PM for getting talks started and making progress.

I'm not sure he knows where Thailand and Cambodia are to find on the map.

But he can ask wise Donnie

Praise was given as praise was due. Did you even so much as glance at the OP?

"A statement from the US Embassy"

So who would expect praise from Trump's US Embassy directed towards the US Secretary of State Rubio. That's not different from Trump congratulating himself for all the peace deals he has allegedly brought around the world.

It's fantasy.

Sorry I don't buy that.

The US Embasy is going to report whatever sounds nice / complmentary for trump regardless of the truth.

It’s obvious that the primary goal is securing Trump a Nobel Peace Prize.

Now he’s chasing every global conflict, claiming his administration brokered the deals.

Take yesterday’s orchestrated peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, for example.

Rubio can’t resist chiming in constantly—almost as if Trump is grooming him for the presidency.

The whole thing feels like a staged performance.

The spat between Thailand and Cambodia (whish is all iy really was OMHO) had nothing yo do with the USA, Trump or Rubio, no matter what Trump claims and the whole world can see that.

It was dealt with by ASEAN, as it should have been,

China and the USA were merely observers and played NO active part.

I don't see Xi or China claiming any credit, nor is Xi desperate for a Nobel Peace Prize.

And that is exactly what the article stated. The anti-trump brigade can't even bother reading before they condemn it.

Perhaps the story shouldn't have been posted, as it is just a few words from a Trump sidekick... Probably whilst at lunch...............🤗

Just one of those things a bloke in Rubio's must do, part of the job.......😉
