I do not get email notifications for threads that I have signed up for. I do get New Topic notifications by email but nothing for the threads I have sign up for to get email notification.

Have you set your e-mail notification options to "immediate notification"? If not do so. The "delayed notification" option does not appear to work most of the time if you stay logged in all the time.

You can change it under My Controls, e-mail settings. There you'll see something like that:
