I am about to buy a couple of tickets for 2 friends (they are paying me back!) who are coming over to visit - they are flying into BKK and then I am going to get them a plane to Samui - is 1 hour transfer too short btw? should I go for 1 hour 45 transfer?

The main question though is this offer on Bangkok Airways...

http://www.bangkokair.com/visa/index.php

BUY 2 AT 1 PRICE PRIVILEGE

buy 2 roundtrip tickets at the price of 1 for Thai VISA Cardholders with VISA Platinum, VISA Signature and VISA Infinite only.

I have a UK Barclaycard Platinum card and was wondering if anyone has booked it this offer, or does - 'Thai VISA Cardholders' mean I have to apply for a Thai VISA card to get this offer or does it just mean somebody with a Thai entry VISA?

I tied calling them but the section for promotions on the call system just took me to a recorded message.

If I can get the offer, I need to get 2 round trips which is not really much use to them as they are going to get a train back, so I was wondering if you can do name changes on these tickets as well.

Nick.

1 hour is tight for domestic transfer, impossible for international; you did not say where they are coming from.

Cannot change names on airplane tickets.

I looked at it and my interpretation of it is that this means either Thai nationality or holding a Thai issued Visa Card....can't see the issue of you holding a Thai entry visa comes into it. But if you want to be truly confused there is also this in the conditions.

# This promotion can be applied for minimum 2 passengers travelling together

# Fare applicable to adult and child only

Cheaper option though less convenient is Air Asia or Thai to Surat Thani and then boat it.

ok thanks, i'll book the later tickets (longer transfer) without trying to get special offer - they are coming from UK - just had a look at airasia and they only had a couple of flights on that day and they would not work with the times.

They will need your credit card that you booked the flights with to show

the staff when checking in.

Every time I fly to Samui from Bangkok I have a friend in Samui organise the booking for me as I am usually arriving from the UK and the Bangkok Airways website is a nightmare. Anyway I have never been asked once to provide anything other than my passport.

Regarding the transit time you should leave at least 90 mins if not 2 hours. If you are lucky and transit quickly Bangkok Airways are reasonable about moving your flight forward providing they have seats available.

Strange, I have had to show the credit card I payed for the ticket with on flights to and from bangkok. It

also says this is the case on their website when booking, in big read writing.

From the reservation email for my recent flight with Bangkok airways;

Credit Card Restriction

For the payment with all type of credit cards, cardhulder must be one of the travellers on the itinerary, and also required to provide the credit card used for online payment and to present valid identification document(s) (passport or identification card) at the check-in counter prior to issuance of boarding passes. Failure to present the credit card, a new payment at the airport counter for your journey is required. Passenger will be denied on board if found traveling with fraudulent credit card.

Not denying any of this but the reality is I have never ever been asked for the credit card.
