90 Day Report Or Border Cross

Featured Replies

Hi gang.

I currently have an exyension of stay on

my non -immi B visa.

I have to report in mid June. As I'm in Chiang Rai,

rather than mess around with the Immigration office,

would crossing the border up in Mae Sai have the same

affect?

I feel rather than get photocopies of passport, arrival

cards etc, I could just cross and get some dvd's while

I'm at it.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards

Will

As long as it is within 90 days of your last report/border run Yes.

The 90 day clock will start again when you return.

All this depends on you getting A Re Entry Permit from Immigration. 1,000 Baht for a Single. 3,800 Baht for a Multi.

If you do not have this your Extension of Stay will die when you leave and you will get 15 days when you return.

I wouldn't fully trust upcountry immigration offices to actually know that the 90 days clock is reset after leaving and re-entering the Kingdom. Just to make sure, I would enquire at the local immigration office, or maybe ask a question in the relevant local forum.

Thanks for that.

I have a RE permit so will just cross the border.

They all know.

The rule is simple, if you stay 90 days in Thailand, you report.

If you leave and re-enter the clock starts again.

Leave every 90 days and will never need to do the reporting.
