Non Immg O Visa And Return Ticket.

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I'm a UK passport holder, 24 yrs old, off to Phuket in August to do a TEFL course and hopefully find a job there afterwards.

I intend to apply for a multiple entry non immg. O visa in August. I've already got a return ticket booked, flying back to the UK in November. However, I intend to change this flight once in Thailand if I find a job so I can stay for longer. I'll make visa runs as necessary. My question is this:

While my current return flight is dated more than 90 days after the day my visa will start, will this cause any problems at airports/customs because my 90 days will effectively be up a few weeks before I am due to fly back? Or does it not matter? Should I change the return flight and move it to a prior date so it looks as if I'll be flying out before my 90 days is up?

With a multi entry you will have to leave the country every 90 days anyway . Just do a border run after 90 days , then carry on with your flight as normal if you like after ....change the flight to earlier if you dont want to " run " to Ranong after 90 days . By the way , Im doing an online TEFL starting July before I go to Thailand . Ever thought of doing it here first ?

If you have any form of visa you do not require an onward ticket ... period.

It's only the 30 day pass on arrival that requires an onward booking.

Leave your flight as it is.

Don't worry :o

OK, thanks crossy, thanks sadako.

I don't actually intend travelling back in November anyway. I'm going to change the flight if I get a job sorted out.

In answer to your question sadako, yes I've thought about doing a TEFL course here in Scotland first but it'll cost £1000 in fees cause I want to do the cambridge certificate. When you add that to the cost of my accomodation to stay near the course location it ends up about the same price as doing it on Phuket - flights 'n' all. I have decided against an online course as I don't think it will look quite as good to employers in a competitive job environment as the cambridge certificate might. Furthermore, I've heard it may perhaps be easier to find employment on Phuket after having gained a qualififcation at a school there.
