April 6, 201016 yr I have got a brand-new passport and need my visa plus re-entry permit transferred from my old document. How much will that cost? Thanks.
April 6, 201016 yr It's free and will only cost you a few photocopies of new and old passport and TM-card. Doesn't take long.
April 6, 201016 yr Immigration will not transfer the actual visa which you obtained from a Thai embassy/consulate. Immigration will transfer stamps obtained locally such as entry, extensions, re-entry permits etc.
April 6, 201016 yr Would that work for passports from different countries? For example, if my US passport is about to expire but I also have an EU passport, would they transfer the stamps to the EU passport?
April 6, 201016 yr No, you need a letter from your embassy/consulate requesting that immigration transfer your visa into the new passport.
April 6, 201016 yr Author It's free... Thank you very much. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure about that? Can anybody confirm, please?
April 6, 201016 yr Yes, I'm sure. I have to have a new passport also every 5 years and go through the same process.
April 8, 201016 yr Author Yes, I'm sure. I have to have a new passport also every 5 years and go through the same process. Thanks a lot! Oh (not quite) well... I was charged 200 baht for transferring my visa- and re-entry permit stamps to my new passport (100 baht each) by xxx-Immigration. No receipt given, though.
April 8, 201016 yr No, you need a letter from your embassy/consulate requesting that immigration transfer your visa into the new passport. You also need a letter from your Embassy requesting that immigration transfer a stamp to your new passport. We needed a letter from the Philippine Embassy to transfer a 15 day entry stamp at Chonburi. We had booked a flight the following day so we had no time to get back to the Embassy. This was another case where taking advice on here can be risky. I was told it would not be needed.
