way2muchcoffee
The reds upset about the interference with their propaganda tv. OK, understandable. But today they kick out legitimate objective reporters from their stage. They don't like objective journalists? Just like their puppet master Thaksin who hated a free press, and was setting up a total dictatorship. Double standard? Of course, the reds love free speech but only their false Truth Today speech, other speech, shut up! The point is they shut down the one place they could let off steam - and what happened? It was a serious error of yellow judgment - one of many with terrible consequences – now no matter what this undemocratic government offer in the way of an early election may not be enough – the reds don’t trust a word they say (and who can blame them?). Censorship – in any wicked guise is still censorship! Is that why the Red Shirts had all media removed from their protest sites yesterday? Censorship and double standards? Anyway, the situation needs to be resolved peacefully and quickly or we may well see more deaths.

Not sure but your last sentence is right - we need compromise (elections) quick - people do not want this government that, though legal, was not elected. The compromise was offered by Abhisit during the meetings with the red leaders. Calling elections a full year early. That is a compromise!
sbk
Final point here, please. Might I suggest that instead of the endless ad nauseum arguments regarding the Parliamentary system and what makes a legal government, LOOK IT UP. Because, 1. This has been discussed ad nauseum and really, at this point, if you still need to bring this point up then you need to get a broader understanding of governmental systems and 2. I think people are tired of the same old arguments brought out over and over and over. I, for one, most certainly am. Do try to stay remotely on topic, then. Which, if I look at the topic title, is actually about the tv station being shut down. Cheers.

That is a compromise! you would be better served by not calling fellow posters liers - the government is there only after: they supported the airport takeover by their pals the PAD by having the red government parties banned (where else do you know of parties being banned because individuals are corrupt?) losing the 2007 election Opposition MPs crossing the House (on principal no doubt!) Anyway – irrelevant – reds will win this and elections will be held this year – something you said should never happen – well you lost so get used to it

The Dems as a party did not support the PAD at the airport (some Dems did) The government didn't disband PPP the courts did due to a PPP exec being caught on film making payoffs there was no single winner of the 2007 elections. PPP formed 2 coalition governments and then the Dems formed one yes after the SECOND thaksin backed government was disbanded for electoral fraud they lost their allies If you are upset about Kasit at the PAD rally, how do you feel about the threats of Jatuporn at the red rallies? BTW --- I don't win or lose in this. Who loses are the people of Thailand when a violent mob takes to the streets to change governments by threats and violence. The leadership should be charged with sedition, inciting violence, inciting insurrection and terroristic threats. The courts should decide their fate. (BTW -- I think a treason charge would be applicable to Jatuporn.) SBK -- I agree with you -- sorry about the above. Even CMF has admitted that the government currently in office is legit (and that means elected) People TV was acting as a player in this mess and not as a reporter of this mess. That violates their public trust. They were shut down legally AND it was a proper move by the government. TAWP
ChiangMaiFun>> Get this fact into the head: It does not matter what you think of the law, it is what it is. And therefor the actions that occurred after the last election both legal and correct and the coalition now is elected, to the same degree as Samak and Somchai's. jdinasia
You don't "let off steam" watching TV --- and when the TV is broadcasting doctored tapes and particcipating in adding to the violence then what you are doing is BUILDING steam. A TV station is a public trust and they were violating that trust. I assume that sedition charges could be charged against the operators of the TV station as well.
