My Opinion Of Protests And Ongoing Unrest

The Yellow shirt protest lasted more than 3 months, so its easily possible that the red shirts could be here for a while

Should red shirts get control over government and thaksin is allowed back into the country protests by the other side will most likely happen again and what ever stragety worked for the reds the other side will use it as well and push the line even further if necessary to dissolve the government or make it collapse.

Regardless of yellow or red or other color protestors that are to come, basically you have people in power here who can't work together, can't comprise, have deep mistrust of one another, rampat corruption, therefore you have nothing but a endless cycle. The situation only has one way to go. further downhill is possible but things are never for sure in thailand

Should the tourism industry, export industry, etc constantly get battered and somehow we get a ongoing non stop protess by reds or yellows or others, for a period of 6 months or more even a year, eventually something will have to give. massive unemployment, business closures, further social unrest is most likely possible

thailands political problems don't seem to ever stop. As a foreigner working and living here the only people who lack a real future are the thai's themselves. The only scenarios that most expats seem to discuss are

1. Actually democracy

2. Dictatorship like burma or north korea

3. Communist country

4. Half functional country that constantly takes steps forwards and backwards with no progress.

for those of you out there whats your opinion on the whole mess, do you see things getting worse before they get better
