It must be perplexing for some farang interests (and indeed that of the international community, and Thai neighbouring countries) to think that Taxin "powers" will once again have control of the country.

But seeing how Taxin has so much pull and influence (ie. money) then isnt it inevitable that whoever does gain power will soon be within reach of taxins tentacles and soon bought out and controlled by the man and his henchmen?

If this is the case then what hope is there for any sort of future free of corruption in Thailand?

Sadly it seems that the saying "everyone (or thing) has its price" couldnt be any more fitting than in Thailand.

But what of the villagers who are reportedly being paid to protest? Are they doing this out of desperation and the dire need of cash, without neccesarily agreeing with the whole red shirt agenda?

I would hardly think that the grass roots, decent people of the North would agree to the slaying of their own countrymen and must have a very heavy heart from inadvertantly contributing to this recent mayhem...From the few good people i know and speak to (both red and otherwise) just want this whole mess to finish.

So, I admit to pretty much being clueless as to the inner thinking of Thais (and always will be :) )

But my question is this...Is it possible that a certain percentage of the paid protestors would take what money they can in protesting but not actually vote red when it comes to the crunch?

Coupled with the anti red numbers in the capital could it be possible that an election might be a little closer than the huge landslide victory that the reds are already claiming??

conscience vote maybe??

Yes. And they did just that last time.

Well simpathy, i suspect it must take quite an amount to get such a large mob up and mobile from the north.

if there were no money involved i suspect it would be a simple case of "mai pen rai, pass the som tom and lao whiskey" followed by a little afternoon nap

JetsetBkk...dont know what side of the fence your on but i hope there are more than a few who do as you say when it comes to voting day
