Parrots And Family

Recommended Posts

This time take a look at our Iguana' s, (the female) in the Aviary

"Godzilla" (the boy) wink.png had not eaten in a while (before mating)

That's about 2 months ago

The male goes first with his head nodding (many times, and many days) then he creeps up behind the female and bites her in the neck.

His tail goes under the female after a hemi-penis is inserted, this may take 3 to 12 min.

(1 hour later, his hemi-penis is completely withdrawn.)

The time between mating and egg laying is between 42 and 70 days

The past 2 weeks, the female was eating a lot , then she is a looking for a good place to start digging .

She makes a hole about 50 cm long and 20 cm deep (also she makes a fake cave)

Then begins the leg, about 40 eggs, the sex is determined by the height / depth where the eggs are

2 days she guards her nest, see her hard work, but also that she has fallen severely.

After 10-15 weeks, the young Iguanas get born,( depends on the temperature.}

Hello Putu 94, first of all let me tell you how nice the pictures of your birds and Iguanas are. Myself I have an Iguana, a turtle and 3 dogs. Now -I got about 2 weeks ago a blue golden Macaw of about 2 years of age. Can you give us some hints where to get a cage which is good for him to stay in the rainy season? For now we constructed for him a nice place about 2 meters high into a tree. He can walk from the garden house to the tree, has his food installed there and feels very well. The only thing we didn't figure out now, why he got small red points in the face. Is it of too much sunlight or just the problem of Chiang Mai's polluted air? In the night we keep him in the house so that there is no harm for him. I am actually against any cages and want my Bird as natural as possible. But I fear that neighbours who poisen dogs in our village (because of the noise) might also do harm to the parrot so that I hope you can help me with some hints regarding the cage. I am not really good in constructing but I would appreciate if you could come back to me some time with some information. Thank you.

Sorry for the late answer.

First about the red points, is difficult to give a good diagnosis , but I suggest to look to the ingredients in the food, many parrot food manufacturers use a chemical.

I am very happy with the food of Pamornchai Supply LTD in Bangkok (Kaytee and Versele Laga ) you should try Fiesta Max for Macaw from Kaytee, it has every thing you bird need, ( never give them human food, )

avoid dried fruits with sulfur dioxide. And If possible go once a year to a vet to have your bird examined and vaccinations.

If you can not construct a cage then let somebody do it for you, i not know if you have enough place for free flight

but anyhow look here

for the food you can send a email to [email protected]

(If you get no answer let me know.)

End of this month I will have "many" green Iguanas as far as I could see there most be more then 40 eggs rolleyes.gif

Where about do you live may I ask?

Hi,

I dont know if you have found the name of this species yet, if not, then I can help.

It is called the Moustached Parrakeet (with some basic variations to the name), anyway, you can get much more information here - http://www.avianweb.com/moustachedparakeets.html

I hope this helps.

planemad

BriBoy, is indeed a wonderfull bird.

Psittacula alexandri fasciata or Red breasted Parakeet or Indian Moustached Parakeet

In our Aviary they live together with the Sun Conure without any problem

even they always come back from the free flight

This Sun Conure is now 8 weeks old, as you see still no feathers sad.png the eyes are now open (with a little help)

The Vet here has no idea , I think it could be a hormone problem

She/he is out of a nest of 4, the others are normal and fly out.

The mother let this baby so I took over with hand feeding

Anybody have a knowledge ?
