I'd say SB is dead-on correct in the comments below...

Since living here in Happy Land, I've been amazed at the number of Thai women I've met (and I don't mean via dating, I mean in regular life) who have children of various ages that don't and often NEVER have lived with them (their real mothers). As SB pointed out, the kids are off in the villages being taken care of by grandmom and/or others.

So the real Moms, here in BKK or elsewhere, send some money back home to help pay for the support. But in other respects, many seem to live lives exactly like women who don't have children. I find it kind of revolting, because it's a real abdication (look it up) of what it means to be a parent.

I know one family where the 8 or 9 year old boy calls his grandmother "Mom" because he's basically never lived with or spent any significant time with his actual mother... It's clearly a common circumstance in Thai society, but it's one a find hard to swallow, even though I understand on the surface why the real mothers feel they need to handle things that way.

So when that babe on the dating site tell you she doesn't have any children, perhaps in a Thai manner of thinking, she doesn't -- even though the little ones are busily growing up somewhere upcountry.

Sadly, it seems pointless to say... if you don't have a secure husband/family and the resources to support children, then a woman shouldn't have them...

Thai men have very little interest in looking after other mens children, Thai women are used to dealing with Thai men.

Hence when advertising for dates they say they have no children, the children are often left back in the village with grandma.

There are a lot of good looking 30/40 something Thai women.

They have often never been married officially (but will have had village husbands).

Many have never been employed in any capacity that they would want to enter on their CV.

Mainly they just lie about the having children bit, just enjoy.

Asian women ( and Thais obviously) are conservative in general, and once the Thai lady has been left high and dry by her first love ( often a Thai guy ), she is willing to wait, if neccesary forever, to find a suitable mate, hence the number of eligible, attractive, nice 30 and 40 year old single Thai women on internet sites.

This clearly is consistent with what my mainstream Thai friends say about many women, not low level, this pertains to many with masters degrees and the likes. One term they have used is "Thai girl style"

Very inconsistent, erratic and unresponsive behavior. Anywhere, any site. May I add "unreliable" to the list, as well as "boring". May girls tell you they love to swim at the beach however when the moment arises, they cower in the sun to protect their precious white skin. Trying to reason about sunblock is difficult. You might say it is like dating a vampire. I have had much better experiences with Japanese girls.

There are exceptions, but relatively few.

IMO; find a hobby, and/or sport and enjoy the food.

more stable but I do believe that the Thai women's main

object will be to improve her finacially staus.

A lot of talk about age and Thai ladies. I have to say in my

experience Thai women like young guys, I am talking 16-

24. They will be all over you at that age. I remember when

I was younger on long holidays to Thailand, about 20 - 22, I would

stay with girls and they were not interested in my money(not that I had

too much). The women Just wanted to be with me. Last time I went to

Thailand though I found that the girls were not so interseted in me.

Have more money, still look roughly the same. So whats up?

My conclusion is (and I may be chatting complete s*** here) I think

that Thai people are quite childish really and maybe they only really

fall in love with youthful spirited people.

These is no lack of emotional and intellectual immaturity. I agree, many are looking for a better financial future, but at least many are educated and more normal or less abnormal than many bar girls.

Knew a mid 20 year old law student here on vacation. Met some upscale pro at Q Bar. She didn't want money from him. She already has "handsum men" sending her money. She can be a liberated middle class girl. Almost like daddy was funding her (no pun intended)

He got the girl free of charge, but the mentality is the same.
