Thai 'Red Shirts' Rule Out Talks Despite Looming Crackdown

Yep, you now know why the Reds erected all the bamboo barricades.

To keep the violent PAD/Yellow/Multicolors out.

The PAD want to invoke violence, they will try tonight it seems.

Hope the barricades hold or many will be killed due to PAD starting violence against Reds.

:)

You do not like it as its TRUE and FACT.

There are now groups of PAD/Yellow/Multicolor trying to incite violence.

They have gone to the Reds area.

They are being aggressive.

They want to incite violence.

If people die tonight or in the next few days due to this "pre-meditated" action by PAD/Yellow/Multi then the organizers of it should be tried for murder.

LeavelHead - let it please get into your head: There was no violence created by the Yellows - there were deaths created by the then Somchai government who ordered fighting against peaceful demonstrators with 15 years old teargas containers. And if you think Chamlong Srimuang is a violent man - google the name.

If the PAD went to Khon Kaen and starting sleeping and pissing in the streets I'm sure it would take less than a month for an angry mob to form and kick them out. Reds have been begging for violence and they'll keep being A-holes till they get it.

I will take it that was also your line when a year or so ago the reds marched 7 km (with a police escort) to charge the yellow lines and that you called for the red leadership that day to be tried for murder etc :D. There are already a lot of people facing long jail terms over what has happened in the past 5 years and that number will increase. Maybe they will all be amnestied or something when the polticians sort it all out but it would probably be better if that didnt happen. Howeevr I agree that those inciting and causing violence should be charged

It is a poltical game. Every side uses the same tactics to achieve its end including murder and violence. There is virtually nothing reds and yellows havent both done. There is a limit to street demo tactics and both have pretty much exhausted it. Of course they are being aggressive tonight but it may be they want to lure some of the reds out rather than go in or at least that would seem to be the purpose of the insults. Of ocurse if any reds are lured out arrest awaits. It reminds me a lot of football hooliganism back in the 70's and 80's in the UK

By the way, the multicoloureds may overlap the yellows but they arent exactly the same thing. There are many in Bnagkok who wouldnt have anythign to do with the PAD and it is arguable whether Sondhi would ever let himself be used as he was again but I digress

Please note I am not justifying nay of the idiocy by any side. It is likely some horrible things are going to happen. There is little we can do about them and probably nobody cares what a bunch of mostly foreigners write on an expat board so it is best to stay as calm as possible and hope things dont get too bad and that the Thai people find a way to resolve all this to satisfaction of people around all the regions

Peace

Why did'nt the army and police force crackdown on the yellow protestors when they took over government house and the two Bangkok airports. If they had have done the present situation with the Red Shirts might not have happened.

Why didn't WHO crack down on the yellow protestors?

Because the World Health Organization isn't trained for crowd control?

"People" are more than one man..supposedly killed by PAD guards. Don't know how long you have been living in Thailand - I quickly learnt that life is cheap.

At least you are not disputing the 15 years old teargas containers killing people while PM Somchai was in hiding in his Chiang Mai house together with his wife, a sister of the ousted PM.

Levelhead, you just made a perfect description of the Reds of the past several weeks. Let me add, the Reds have embedded among them, combat trained who are disguised and are eager to kill anyone who threatens the Red protesters - particularly military. If, in the course of taking out those cold-blooded killers, the army also takes out regular Red protesters, then there's no one to blame but the Reds themselves - particularly their shouting leaders who have been itching, almost begging for armed confrontation for weeks.

Bloody mayhem serves the Red cause and particularly paves the way for Thaksin to come back to power and amass ever more riches.

Thats also not what he said, he replied to the one above that said that if the pad would protest in isarn they would be kicked out.

he replied back that 70% of these protestors are banhkokians meaning they belong here and it is totally differenty from pad protesting in the isarn. He did not state that it was 70% of the bangkokians.

ps. i dont know if the 70% is correct, just explaining his point as dru2 missed it!

Clearing out the protest site will not be easy. see for yourself. Go and kick a wasp's nest. Yes, you can destroy the nest, but there will be a lot of agitated wasps buzzing around. No matter how well protected you are, a few are going to manage to sting you. It isn't a major health issue if you are able to take a few stings, but if you are allergic to wasp venom, all it takes is 1 jab and off you go into shock. A few more and you have cardiac arrest and then it's off to the funeral home.

The go slow approach with increased displays of "power" are sufficient to discourage many protestors. This incessant demand for an immediate "Go crack some skulls" will only make matters worse. I believe we are at the turning point and a few gentle nudges will bring this to an end. Despite angry comments to the contrary, the authorities are making progress. The protestors are contained in one area, other protest areas have been dealt with, ingress and egress is controlled and the situation is controlled. Let the authorities proceed at the current pace and this will come to a peaceful end. There is no need to create martyrs. Patience.

thank you GK. let there be PATIENCE. a virtue so underestimated. though it's real inner strength.

Closing Patpong looks to have rattled the Expat community up there.

Calling for death, war, killings of reds, all out attacks.

Looks like a massive army in the North could be gathering, fully armed, with army backing and certainly the Police in the country... apart from a few hi-so generals and colonels etc.

Forget your fantasy about the Muslims coming to you aid, they hate Bangkok and its decadent elite more than the Reds do.

What Irony, the Patpong, Nana expats hoping that the clean living Muslims of the south are going to come north and clear the reds away from their playgrounds.

levelhead, people in silom are just people who're fed up. they no longer feel _they_ have a chance to live their lives the way they want to/need to/just happening. they feel intimidated. their anger has been aroused. "red shirts" claim to speak for a (illusionary) majority - so, now, you see: illusion vs reality.

i know, that's painful: we call it "disillusion".

-

btw, i didn't know there's any area in bkk that could be called "red's area". i thought it's a "peaceful demonstration" in "public space"?

http://thainews.prd.go.th/en/news.php?id=255112100004

Wrong, THE REFERENCED ARTICLE - No cause of death, no identification, could have been a PAD member.

Police revealed that the corpse was dressed similar to that of a People's Alliance for Democracy guard and also possessed its signature handkerchief. The cargo hold where the body was found is no longer in use and was being used as a lavatory during the PAD's seizure of the airport. Witnesses found the approximately 40-year-old male corpse wrapped in large white plastic bags with all of his jewelry and affects still with him, including a gold and diamond ring and a cadet academy class ring. Police suspected the body had been discarded in such a way for no less than five days.

Airport security officer Mr. Adisak Puengpaisal (อดิศักดิ์ พึ่งไพศาล) made the discovery which initially was being suspected by police to either be an PAD guard or an undercover police officer who attempted to collect intelligence from within the protesting group last week. The body has been transported for forensic studies.

Levelhead: I'm not sure how you hold the views that you appear to unless you are deliberately trying to wind people up - a kind of internet agent provocateur. Read my posts re an analysis of the situation from a psycho analytical perspective. I have found distinct and clear parallels between the red movement and the rise of Nazism in prewar Germany. Also, the personality of the red's leader is so transparent that I find it impossible that anyone cannot see this. Further, I do not think that any of the red leaders have made an intelligent comment ever since they started gabbling away on their illegally erected stages in Bangkok. Don't tell me you have been manipulated too!

May I add that I am not on either side of the barricade. I stand for common decency, human rights and true democracy. Thaksin was an anti-democrat who to the best of my knowledge was never directly elected (unlike Abhisit, funnily enough). He ordered extra-judicial killings which is not what you do in democracies. He rifled the country's wealth which a truly democratic leader would not do. He ruled his cabinet with an iron fist - which a democratic leader would also not do. The so-called fighters for democracy on the red stage are using the word 'democracy' as a convenient flag in order to manipulate the mass. The tactics used directly parralel those used by the national socialists and were outlined in Mein Kampf. Go for it boy, just go and study a bit more .... unless you are winding us all up!

This is too too much.

Pat Pong closed.

Nana next and then--oh my god--Cowboy.

It is the end of the world.

We did not come here to find human rights. We came here to exploit and to rape and pillage.

Human rights in Thailand?

Oh the pain of it all.

Perhaps we should charge the men in black in a suicide charge at patpong.

Will they laugh at us and simply give us beer?

Good enuff.

Maybe they have sisters.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

Hit the nerve again. Mention Patpong and no Bangkok Expat on here has ever been there and is not missing it.

So why you guys on here posting about death and destruction all the time, hoping for a killing spree?

The yellows are uping the Anti tonight because there is a chance of talks involving a third party. This is exactly what they don't want and as they think talks may go ahead, they obvisouly have to provoke violence quickly.

Sorry you don't understand the situation.

Any thoughts on what would happen if you fantasy of all the reds in Rachprasong were shot tonight? Try looking to the mutiny up north and the stopping of the train.

Think also why the Navy are callled in as well. Can't rely on the army and Isaan is not known for its Naval bases..... therefore more in the army.... well, you are the experts, think it through. Tell you what though. They will need to spend a lot of money on their aircraft carriers and ships if they think they are sailing up there to sort Khon Kaen out!!! :):D:D

Its good that the so called falang intellects on this site are now calling for mass shootings and Army coup. Go boys go. Donations to Mr Sondhi c/o inhiding house, nears Sadaams Bunker, undergroud. 56331 Because everybody knows he helped start this

If you rule out negotiations as a possibility, what else is left under these circumstances? It seems the Reds are signing their own death warrants if that is going to be the approach. Even if they have stockpiled weapons, which is quite likely, they will be no match for the military. The wild card is whether the military rank and file are prepared to carry out what will amount to an execution order by their generals on their fellow citizens. I truly hope not!
