And the red shirts demand a fair election, so what is the problem?

They have demanded an election. If they were demanding a fair election, they wouldn't be demanding it be now.

After this mess, barring a miracle, it will be years before you have a free and fair election that all parties will accept and that is part of the problem. All the polticos and players know this too, but as it is only power they are interested in, it is an irrelvance to them. Note how it is never the polticos and players who die or even end up in jail

Yup, very much so but this huge power battle, ironically, has also caused the very system about which they are all scrapping, to itself start to unravel and no one will be able to ravel it back up, leaving I am afraid chaos..but according to the laws of nature, over time that will ultimately bring order!

:)

It will be a very different Thailand. Odd thing is if you actually listen to what all sides are saying the visions are very similar. Of ocurse nobody listens to anything except what they themslef say which is a tad problematic too. It is just a battle to be the elite who oversees it all

Pheu Thai Party chairman Chavalit Yongchaiyudh yesterday lashed out at the government for "ordering killings"

I only got as far at that quote then wondered - would he be referring to the slaughter in Pattani of unarmed protestors by the Thaksin government angering the local population so much that thousands there have died since because of his callousness?

Or the extra judicial execution by Wacky Tacky's buddies in the police of over 2000 people when he promised to rid Thailand of ALL drugs in 3 months?(the sort of garbage he normally cynically trots out knowing it couldn't possibly be done)

Squareface, Chavalit, Chalerm Yubamrung(and his murderous sons) etc etc - heaven help Thailand if they ever get their corrupt hands on power :)

Chavalit slamming the govt for "cold-blooded murder" is a bit like Khin Nyunt slamming the US for human rights abuses.

The miracle of Thailand is that the media give any credence or time to what these senile old wind-bags say or think, rather than just ignoring them completely. The only explanation is that Chavalit pays Thai journos handsomely to turn up to his press conferences, in the traditional way of Thai hi-so assured media exposure. :)

Post #144 shows Chavalit in a Generals uniform. Bottom row, right side of his medals appears to be a US issued Bronze Star Medal. Normally that is issued for ground operations against hostile forces.

Would anyone know how and where Chavalit earned this medal?

Only a guess, but supect it was for helping the US hunt down and kill communists and their sympathisers during the 60s and 70s in Northeast Thailand. Nice piece of work is Big Jiew. (Can anyone confirm that his nickname is a joke about the size of his member, which is anything but "big"?)

My favorite line of the week was something to the effect that

' Chaovalits only saving grace is senility.' :D

Actually, I commented that his most endearing feature was his senility. But I dare say Khunying P might prefer his little twinkie more. A woman's worst nightmare must surely be having Chavalit try to give her a French kiss. :D Perhaps a female TV poster might care to comment on whether this could be considered a human right's abuse under the UN definition? :D
