Remembrance Day

Do not forget the men and women who deserve your respect

Today like millions of people around the world, I paused for two minutes at the moment the guns stopped at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, in 1918.

We are so greatly in the debt of those on the side of freedom who have fallen in war.

Indeed, some of us on this forum hail from countries whose independence was forged in the sacrifice our forefathers made nearly 90 years ago for their "mother country" on Flander's Fields Where the Poppies Grow, Row on Row.

Good reminder Stu - I have not seen any poppy sellers this year (I'm in HK). Perhaps people are forgetting.

Also :-

-------------------------------------------------------------

The Queen, wearing a violet outfit and hat, did not wear a poppy, but Mr Howard and the Duke of Edinburgh, standing either side of her at the ceremony did.

Buckingham Palace said it was the Queen's "custom" only to wear a poppy when she attended the cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
