Pattaya ... The Changing Face

I recently visited Pattaya just for a couple of nights. I've been a few times before and can honestly say i've enjoyed my visits.

I always hear opinions regarding Pattaya and the infamous "Walking Street". For me it's no more than a means to grab a bear with my wife and do some people watching. This visit was different though. I was appalled at the amount of "white trash" (yes i'm white) that has infiltrated Pattaya. I refer to the women that parade the streets in a manner that leaves only one assumption, that they are prostitutes.

Ok, i hear all you saying about the bar trade in Pattaya, but there's a certain amount of subtlety in the way business is held and accepted. I get the impression from various sources that the said "white trash" is from Russia.

These women are horific to say the best. Their garish make-up and dirty clothing makes one wonder who these women are doing business with.

When did this infiltration happen? More to the point, what can be done to stop it?

A sad day for Pattaya and all the beautiful Thai ladies that grace it with their presence.

I visited Pattaya for the first time in years while waiting for an ash-delayed flight, and was puzzled to see that many of the rooms in my hotel were occupied by youngish Russian women. The ladies seemed to be going around in pairs or small groups. There were very few - if any - Russian families. Although I noticed nothing untoward in terms of behaviour and wasn't approached by any of the said females, I couldn't help wondering whether they were all simply there on holiday. I didn't visit Walking Street and didn't see any soliciting elsewhere, though these women were to be seen in the shopping malls. Am I another innocent leading a sheltered life?

I think they are mostly not from Russia. More like places like Uzbekistan, etc.

These women are mostly East European drug addicts.

They can feed their habit much cheaper in Thailand and finance themselves by prostitution working unchallenged and without hindrance from the police under the control of the Farang and Thai mafia gangs.

I doubt they're all drug addicts. Probably just following the money and remember Thai, South Asian, and Middle Eastern men often favor a taste of white. I even get propositioned sometimes by Malay and Indian men in town, its a jungle out there!

I totally agree with you, I also think people who are looking for a good English Breakfast should look in England and not here
