I'm very pleased with the transition to Windows 7, except for an old Microtek 3800 scanner that isn't recognized. (I no longer have my original installation disk, but the web tells me the driver doesn't work with IE 7 anyway). Searching the web, it seems a generic twain driver would do the trick. I've downloaded two, installed them, when I go to "Windows Fax and Scan" and try to scan, the computer doesn't recognize that I have a scanner connected.

Does anyone have a suggestion that might work?

Windows 7 Pro has a special feature called Virtual Windows XP mode.........my 9 year old scanner works! again! Might be something to consider for those who upgrade to Windows 7. If you have old printers/scanners etc, they might/might not work on Win 7, but if you have Windows 7 Pro, they should work fine....in XP mode.
