Use psychological warfare... The PM/ or military announces that the "Reds" in their encampment downtown BKK have to stay there; it is now an open containment camp. They cannot leave! The military surrounds the perimeter with razor wire and the Reds can enjoy their illegal ocuppancy. (They shouldn't mind since they don't want to leave.)

The UDD asked for Suthep to surrender to the police, but he's surrendering to the DSI instead.

And why should he surrender to anyone? Because terrorists ask for it....Surely I'm going to wake up from this nightmare !

because terrorists normallly surrender to the police .

Suthep ordered the killing of civilians he is one of them

So, has a warrant been issued? have you proof (beyond reasonable doubt, hearsay, guesses etc) that the unfortunate victims were killed as a direct result of his orders?

Until a charge is made against him, he has nothing to surrender to. Unlike the red leaders who have warrants against them, and were supposed to surrender themselves as I recall, oops! Forgot about that one did we?

I keep noticing that in a number of threads and various replies the phrase ' government / PM...order the killing of civilians' , keeps cropping up. Does anyone have evidence that at some point in the not too distant past the government sat down and ordered the army to go and kill civilians????

If my memory serves me right the PM ordered the rally to be dispersed in line with International standards. And was at the time very explicit that these were his wishes. Unless international standards include ordering the killing of civilians how has this phrase become accepted as the truth??

The only line they have to pursue is to keep saying that over and over,

and hope their base and a few others believe it. Hopeless.

Jonclark, you're infusing logic in to the debate. The Reds are far from logical. Indeed they're scared shitless about the possibility of being seriously busted for their illegal activities of past weeks. That's why the childish vacillating, adding new conditions, prevaricating, ad nauseum.

On another, possibly related issue: Thai Visa member(s) using the names: cheguevara, redsunset, bangkoklight, pornsasi, 4223 rhodes and theitalian all joined within a few days of each other (2nd week of April '10), and all have about the same # of posts, AND, all echo the Red banter using near identical words. How many of those usernames are the same person? It would further their cause (of justifying everything the Reds do and say), if they support each others' posts - which they do. It would be easy to start multiple accounts by simply applying with different email addresses.

Just wondering.

For your first question: look at the words you wrote that I highlighted in red. Now consider that troops (if indeed it was the troops and not red shirts masquerading as troops, or black shirts, whatever) under battle conditions, if they did shoot, would have some difficulty hitting a moving target especially while being jostled by their colleagues in the heat of battle.

Remember, they're using M16s - set to single shot. On full automatic, they can spray out 12 rounds per second. But they weren't attempting carnage - otherwise known as accuracy through quantity. They were using the minimum firepower to accomplish their task. Throughout, the soldiers have shown amazing grace under fire, and in accordance with international standards, only shot at targets that threatened. That some shots may have gone astray is quite normal on the field of battle - be it a jungle or an urban setting.

As far as the second question goes, if you have an update on the sighting at Mount Ararat, I'd love to hear about it - on an appropriate forum.

I guess I should have used the irony smiley - oh, there isn't one yet. You talk about 'innocent' women; I won't debate that point with you. I just find it ironic that your namesake was known as a butcher, and yet you speak about some injuries during a red shirt attack that the troops tried very hard to avoid. Irony... not sarcasm. Big difference. But you already knew that :)

M16's in single shot? There are dozens of videos on YouTube showing the army using FULLY AUTOMATIC assault rifles, nothing about single shots. Yet, I'm aware they've said on the news that they're using single shots only, but videos show otherwise.

if you wanna talk about full auto, the bursts of fire being used on full auto were the ones the were fired AGAINST soldiers on Wipawadee Rd, leaving one dead. they were spraying fast. obviously those were used by civilians...and well, I think we might have an educated guess who did that.

Interesting.

He goes to the police.

They decide there are no charges to face and tell him to go home.

How will the "Red Shirts" feel then?

Or...... do they really mean that they will go after he has been found guilty of something?

my thoughts exactly.

Thaksin and his buddies try to make up excuses for the reds to continue disrupting the country...

Correct! Demands that will never be satisfied, because they are not meant to be.

Anyone can fire a single shot from a fully automatic rifle. Just because "fully automatic rifles" are seen in a video means nothing. Your comment is distracting from the truth. No one ordered anyone to fire automatic rifle fire into the crowd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are the babies and toddlers there to protest of their own free will?

It is the adult women's own fault and in regards to the babies and children there, it's their parent's fault.

Shame on them.

Here here!

I whole-heartedly agree. Any parent who brings kids to these kinds of protests are nothing more than morons who should not be allowed to be parents in the first place. I would rather die an innocent child than be taught morals and life by these low lives.

Links please. I want to read where Suthep ordered the killing of civilians.

Thanks

He sent the army with live ammos against the reds . That is public knowledge .

He must have know they will shoot

The red extremists few must appear before a tribunal fair and square and so does Suthep.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that the red leaders filed a case against him with DSI - which was at first refused and then taken. Perhaps at this time they were not aware of any "conflict of intrest"...

Might the nightmare be over soon!

And it won't be difficult to produce evidences showing Reds threatening to kill (even the PM), to destroy, to assault, etc..........

Wasn't there a red shirt speaker asking for Abhisit to be hanged in Sanam Luang at one point? Think it was around or after 10th April.

please dont cloud the issues with facts. media and humans are stupid and victors write the history... look at that nonsense the upsurs were spewing about "illegitimate government not elected" and even BBC who is from UK who also has a parliament system picked up and started repeating it.

keep saying a lie loud and long enough and it soon becomes the "truth"

If the army really went in with M16's in fully automatic mode, don't you think a lot more people would have died on the tenth. Sometimes it pays to think before you post.

Maybe to you . I asked for Arisman , Sae Daeng and Suthep to surrender and appear before a court this afternoon , quite before the reds made the request .

...you're on vacation here Che, aren't you? And it's so much more exciting than all the leftist discussions you have back home right?

Maybe there must be much more dead people lying around before you realize that nothing the reds are doing will bring this country forward. To defend illogical moves makes you illogical. The reds claim they would win any elections with a landslide so what's their problem? What's the agenda? Right... they didn't tell you so why should I ask you. For me it's easy, when I'm completely fed up I'll pack and go, seek my fortune back home even if it will be hard after 8 years in the LoS. But all my friends can't as they are not "elite" but simple Thai people and wouldn't most likely don't pass the visa sections of your or my embassy.. And guess what, they are rrrrreally fed up from all the nonsense they had to listen to during past couple of weeks.

I see the indifference but you don't make it right if you take a majority hostage. Maybe there's a majority that welcomes change. But what happens on the streets right now does not go well with them.

Enough is enough. Roll in the tanks. Cut the BS.

I cannot see any right thinking person disagreeing with you.

Only the trolls masqurading as red supporters.

Perhaps the government needs another 30 dead citizens and a few thousand injured before they realize that those Red Leader do not want Peace! They want Thaksin's money and will fight until the bitter end....better civil war than giving in! Government has been patient for 6 weeks, with ten thousands of people suffering...nowhere in the world a situation like this is possible...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...Suthep will turn himself in tomorrow, then give those Red fuc_kers 6 hours to disperse or SEND THE TANKS!
