I just read why there is no large exit wound in S. D.'s head, the bullet exited through his neck which makes me think the angle is from pretty high up. I read earlier on this forum that the shot came from a hotel room.

Did they give you the room number and hotel name too? Seh Daeng was short, so maybe the angle was affected by that too, maybe he was shot by a red guard who was six feet tall standing behind him. Can't take info in this forum as gospel.

Have no idea who is responsible for the shot that got 'Rambo', but the man interviewing him, said "I heard a shot and then Sea dang went down" plus the doctor says a bullet was removed for his head. BTS cease stops at seven terminal stations near UDD rally

BANGKOK, 14 May 2010 (NNT) — The BTS skytrain will avoid pulling over at seven terminal stations near the anti-government demonstrations at the Ratchaprasong intersection today to ensure safety of passengers.

According to Bangkok Mass Transit System (BMTS) executive Dr Anut Apapirom, the BTS that has operated since 06.00 hrs will not be stopping at Sala Daeng, Ratchadamri, Siam, National Stadium, Chidlom, Ploen Chit and Nana stations.

To facilitate convenience to regular users of the skytrain, Dr Anut said that Sukhumvit line in operation is divided into two routes, from Mo Chit to Ratchathewi and from On Nuch to Asoke.

For the Silom line, the BTS will run from Wongwian Yai to Chong Nonsi station. The closing hours of the BTS is yet to be determined, Dr Anut said. Yesterday the BTS skytrain had continued service until midnight with the exception of Ploenchit, Chidlom, Siam, and Ratchadamri stations, which closed at 18.00 hrs.

Thaksin condemns recent violence

BANGKOK, 14 May 2010 (NNT) – Deposed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has denounced the recent violence in Bangkok on Thursday night, including the ambush plotted against Major General Khattiya Sawasdipol, alias 'Seh Daeng’.

Writing via his twitter, Thaksin condemned the use of military forces and heavy weapons against protestors of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) once again by the government, leading to deaths and injuries of people.

The former prime minister also indicated that he had talked to Khattiyar Sawasdipol, the daughter of Major General Khattiya, who was waiting for her father in front of the operation room. He said he complemented her to be as strong as her father.

Major General Khattiya was shot at his head on Thursday night while he was giving interviews to foreign journalists amid the gun attacks at Sala Daeng Intersection and is now recovering from this serious brain injury at Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Medical College and Vajira Hospital.

According to the report of the Erawan Center, one death and 11 injuries were reported from the violence on Thursday night.

Thaksin also warned UDD protestors and guards to beware of drinking poisoned coffee,along with the infiltration of strangers into the rally site of Ratchaprasong Intersection.

Twenty-one UDD supporters were reported to be recently hospitalized after drinking poisoned coffee.

The ex-prime minister ended his twitter message that reconciliation could not be done just only verbally but must be made with mercy and sincerity.

I watched TNN late yesterday evening and last night. I twice saw a clip that appeared to show an entrance wound on the right temple; that clip is no longer being shown. It appeared to be almost perfectly round, which would indicate that the shot was fired at approximately the same height as S.D.

The doctors reported that the bullet entered from the right temple and ended at the left temple. To do that, the angle of trajectory would have to be flat, not from a great height - or bounced off the jaw up to the temple, which is highly unlikely. In any case, there was no exit wound, based on the surgeon saying that they removed the bullet.

Shell Thailand Board Director, Pisawan Atchanapornkul, stated that the use of lubricants among Thai consumers had decelerated in the second quarter of this year, especially in April 2010.

The consumption dwindled by 10% of the overall market.

As elaborated by Ms Pisawan, use of vehicles, particularly public vans, in some major tourist attractions of the country, such as Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima, has been decreasing during the mass protest of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) in Bangkok.

I agree with that for the most part. Problem is, the current situation has no political way out. It must be a military way out. As much as I hate to give him credit, that pr1ck in Dubai is responsible for most of this. I'm no fan of military governments. on-on makes a good point.

See the 2000 US elections. The difference is people didn't take over Washington DC. Granted it got pretty stupid. But in the end it was settled by the courts and we ended up with a stupid redneck for 8 years. (disclaimer I voted for him) Life moved on. I am sure democracy can work for Thailand, just not in this current environment. This situation needs military intervention.

Yes this is what worries me about the coup idea. At first it seems a perfect settlement

1) Two sides arguing over when to call elections are replaced by a Government that doesnt plan to hold them

2) Two sides arguing over who is the legitimate democratically elected leader is replaced by someone who everyone agrees is not.

The problem though is that this farce has shown how completely incompetent the military are. To have them actually run the country would be comical.

The early election proposal was the quid pro quo for the rally dissolution. The Red Shirts reneged on the rally dissolution and have instead decided to "fight to the death". Over what is anyone's guess. Mine being an overthrow of the government and installation of a despotic regime, Red Sirt style.
