Hahaha!!!! Look at the DOUBLE STANDARDS at work here. It was just on the news that 27 red shirt protesters have been sentenced to 6 monhts in prison TODAY. They were arrested YESTERDAY. And what about the yellow shirts that took over the government house for 8 months and took the 2 airports hostage for 10 days? They're still not sentenced after 2 YEARS ..and one of their leaders is even the government's foreign minister!!!! I think this just tops it all, sorry.

Clueless much? They were arrested during a State of Emergency while actively breaking the law. The penalty was stated. They pled guilty at their arraignment rather than take the full one year and financial sentence.

Not very uncommon. Had they not cooperated they would have been detained until this was over then given court dates.

"Children & elders make up 70% of protesters

Former senator and secretary of a children foundation Wallop Tangkhananurak issued a statement for red-shirt leaders to evacuate children and elders, which he estimated made up 70% of protesters at Ratchaprasong rally."

Taken from the update in another thread. This is so sick!!! Are these really tactics approved by the leadership of red shirt movement? If women and children get hurt, they have only themselves to blame, but if there are any mothers there with kids I totally could not understand it.

It is because the 'terrorists' are normal folks from all walks of life. They protest against the current government demanding elections, blocking one crossroad in bangkok.

And the government is sending out troops to shoot and kill them.

Of course it would make a better picture for the government if their 'terrorists' would be only a heavily armed para-military, ready to line up at a wall to be peaceful executed.

But the reds shirts aren't like that what the government want to paint them. Now you can continue to blame the civilians that got killed in the governments reply to the demand of new elections as even more disgusting.

u sound high its along way down

The yellow shirt protests were 'a walk in the park' compared to what these red lunatics are doing. I hope Thaksin sleeps soundly tonight knowing that his Country men are dying on his behalf.

Cheers, Rick

I hate to think this Rick but all indications make me think it is true and that is Thaksin has wanted red shirt blood to flow from day 1. All their actions would indicate they have wanted police and/or the army to come down with a heavy hand in order to gain sympathy and hopeful outrage from the country. Only thing is they have not fully given up this goal even though they have lost most all credibility and most reached their limit with their "peaceful" protest long ago.

So IMO, he will not sleep peacefully until he believes his red mob has under gone HUGE casualties.

More lies ---- the government has NOT tried to disperse the violent illegal redshirt insurrectionists.

The government troops have not tried to ove into the area. They are cutting the area off. They are not allowing supplies to be brought in. The attacks are happening where? Oh yeah ... where the reds are coming OUT of the Rachprasong area and attacking the government troops. No deaths in Rachprasong --- other than the guy that died in his tent!

One has to admire some red apologists resort to outright lying in the face of reality as they go down in flames.

They get their cue from their master Thaksin who openly lied that the Songkran 2009 red rioters were 'fake reds'.

That excuse is not quite useful in the current moment.

So the 'civilian' line is pushed in line with the other Thaksonistas.

He only needs the support of the majority of MPs to be PM. As did Thaksin, Samark, and Somchai.

Not the same

In the case of Thaksin and Samak after a general election

In the case of Somchai , he just replaced Samak as head of PPP .

Somchai replaced Samak as PM by the majority of MPs voting for him. Same as Abhisit.

That vote of Somchai as PM was by the parliament voted in during general elections of all MPs

Not a copy and paste parliament adultered by the courts .

Not to mention Newin reputation

Now check with some british friends if you got any . They will tell you Abhisit has no popular mandate

pornarsi

i am British and i like him

he is popular with me and all of my British friends

we think he is the best PM Thailand ever had.

we urge him to stay the course and get rid of these 'peaceful ' protestors

if we had a vote, he would get it and we all know the way our wives are going to vote

we bought their votes.......

as to friends, i will send you 10 baht to phone one

second thoughts, here is 20 baht, phone them both.........

My thoughts entirely. He should be held responsible for every single injury and death that caused by this so called 'fight for democracy'. He openly declared that he was not interested in democracy for Thailand and that is obvious coming from the mouth of a dictator.

Cheers, Rick

Alright fair nuff , and if you want to know i also supported Abhisit call for

the roadmap and even him blockading the red shirt area as long as no gunfire

Thats part of the game .

But now we have how many deads ? Why did he not order the army to use only

rubber bullets ? If the red shirt are so deadly but no soldiers are killed seems strange

dont you think .

Yes he seems a honest chap though without much in the way of control .

As for his popular mandate he has none . thats not so important to me .

It is getting ridiculous the excusses that the Farang yellow shirts are comming up with to justify the shooting of a 10 yr old child as we have seen thoughout these last 86 pages.

1. He was armed and threatend soldiers.

2. He was in a van speeding towards a check point packed with explosives.

3. He was in a van packed full of weapons.

4. he was in a van full of Red propaganda

5. He was outside the van and armed threatening soldiers

6. it was a school night and he refused to go to bed.

you need serious help

serious help for repeating comments of others ok......

Condolensces to the family if the reports that the little boy has died are accurate. What a tragedy.

Amazing that someone who calls himself 'hammered' is one of the few who are not. Sincere condolences from here also if true - God forbid. What happened to perspective? How many posters have children? Have a heart. A child is without blame. Certainly doesn't warrant a Summary death penallty. Wherever blame lies it wasn't with him.

Men in Black firing an M79(?) in a video: http://bit.ly/agMA2t /via @sternos @tulsathit

Peaceful reds :D but they only use their hands , how can this be can true must be photo shopped :)

Good video . No soldier dead so far . I have seen few other video showing army shooting. Now do you think killings by either side is going to put an end to divisions in Thailand ?

Now you can not say anymore that you have not seen any video blah blah blah blah..........

No matter how compelling the evidence (that there are militants with combat weapons embedded with the Reds), there will be the same Red Shirt apologists who will deny it.

No amount of evidence will dampen their denials.

Even the sad event of the 10 yr old boy. Right away, Red supporters twisted the reported facts, and tried to use it to tar security forces. The best I can find on that incident is that the boy was hanging around (after being told earlier to leave), then a van tried to run an army blockade, shots were fired at the van's tires, a shot apparently skipped on the ground and hit the kid on the far side of the speeding van (not visible by shooters). I believe the kid is still alive.

Where can I donate to buy 1,000 plastic handcuffs? Red militants need to be arrested and apprehended. I'm bit disappointed to hear 1 yr sentences getting immediately halved to 6 months. Why leniency? These are guys who are doing all they can to kill security personnel. They're furiously making molotov cocktails and shooting off military grenades willy nilly. Are these the sorts that authorities want to be lenient with? Let's hope they won't halve the sentence again tomorrow, and then again a few hours later, and then figure, 'oh what the heck' ....and just let them off for good behavior, so they can trot back towards the black smoke, and rejoin the shoot-out.

Any recent film or pictures of red carying firearms ?

If none , no need to reply .

Thanks

Any recent pictures showing soldiers killing anyone? See people falling but haven't seen the shooters. So, army must not be killing anyone.

Many videos of soldiers shooting , none of red shooting .

Have a pick here and check reports from hospital .

17 deads civilians so far .

Great show Abhisit ...

All this proves is the red shirts are getting smarter

and not showing that they carry weapons

we call this carrying concealed weapons

No video, but there are recent photos of reds carrying and aiming weapons.

Got a email suggesting that after this is all over there could be a reformation of The Communist Party of Thailand :)

Seem to remember a bit about them way back in the 60-70s but must admit I had to recheck....

anywau figures ....people dont forget..........and.....

FI..

The CPT focused its efforts on those parts of the country where inequality and poverty were the worst. In the north and the north-east, therefore, most of the support for the CPT was garnered.

Many peasants in those regions found themselves disenfranchised by successive military governments and were receptive to ideas of equality and revolution

and may the truth come out about this tragedy, because that's what it is, I can not believe a soldier who even doesn't wants to be there was aiming and trying to kill the new generation.

Am utterly appalled at the reds. They had such sympathy a month and a half ago, now they are just a bunch of criminals working for their master Thaksin to the detriment of the entire nation. Disgusting.

OK. However, I can't understand any civilized person having any sympathy for them at all after Pattaya Asean and Black Songkran.

The only ones that have sympathy for them are the reds themselves - like their fan club here - time for negotiation is over and I hope the government realizes that the only way to win this is to go full out and destroy them once and for all

, Gents, though it maybe difficult, rather than fanning flames of hatred and indulging in name-calling, suggest you take a look at these events through the prism of world history and understand why a peaceful negotiation is essential to ending this crisis which is in danger of spiraling out of control.. Jai yen, please... :)
