Abhisit is an honest man who has bent over backwards to avoid conflict yet the psychopathic leaders that manipulate the rank and file Red Shirt Brigade were and still are bent on extreme violence e and hatred from the start as their rhetoric so clearly showed and indeed still shows..

Twenty years here and Abhisit is the most progressive Prime minister to date willing to listen to all and his administration has implemented measures to assist the less well off in Thai society and indeed would have done more if it wasn't for the Red Shirt Brigaded actions to stall further measures as it was damaging thug Thaksin his family and their acolytes money stealing and law manipulation to yet further boost their fortunes at the expense of the majority.

The guy is an incompetent, irresponsible leader that has just brought the country to the edge of civil war, due to his impatience, frustration and unwillingness to show flexibility in negotiations. How much blood needs to be spilled under this idiots leadership before you tell him to resign ?

The blood lust on this forum is disgusting.

Few weeks ago I was a 'newbie' I'm thinking this 'RussellHantz' has some history I don't know about. Can only assume he knows forum rules very well to be permitted to keep posting. I won't comment about him or his posts again. Suggest humbly that others do the same. He's a sick puppy. Why encourage this poster by aknowledging evil and sick puppies. Good medication out there but this person needs to take a step to ask for help. Not rational. In 'Snakes and Ladders' the snakes are long and the ladders are short and too rare. God bless you RH. I hope that you can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Doesn't have to be a train coming at you. But you need help.

PS I hope he can't find people who see grey. I'd be scared

PPS Accept after reading my post 'evil and sick puppy wasn't grey. I retract.

Very very well said Andrew. I have no doubt many forum members share you're opinion.

Army shooting wildly.. clipped 2 people OUTSIDE the vehicle !!

Any link to this "update" ????????

Read it this morning in the 10's of news feeds.. cant find it now but it was clear..

The driver was smelling of drink and didnt stop when he was waved down.. He had knives in the van.. The child and another adult (elderly) was hit as bystanders when the army opened fire on the van..

Yea, I cannot find any source making this claim but you either.

Officers shoot van speeding through checkpoint, three injured

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Military officers last night opened fire at a speeding van in a bid to stop it from breaking through the checkpoint near Makkasan Airport Link station.

At 00.30 hrs, the Toyota Commuter van moved with high acceleration on Ratchaprarop Road heading towards Din Daeng Intersection and refused to stop at the military checkpoint near Makkasan Intersection after it was flagged down by the officers. The incident forced the security officers to fire bullets to puncture the tires; however, the van continued charging at the checkpoint. Both rubber bullets and live rounds were used, and the vehicle was successfully brought to a stop.

On the van, the military officers found a middle-aged man with alcohol stench, who was injured by a bullet on the right side of his body. The officers also found a large collection of knives and memorabilia of the anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD).

Two passersby, a 10-year-boy and a taxi driver, were also hit by stray bullets. All three wounded were rushed to Phyathai 1 Hospital.

TAN Network: Red-shirt leader Dr.Weng Tojirakarn says some police and even soldiers are shooting at their peacekeepers, demands govt stop operations now.

These poor peacekeepers.

who they are - peacekeepers ?

Actually, it was a mis-translation of "piece keepers", as in "I'll have a piece of that!" :)

I think he meant these guys....

whybother,
“The reds don't want reconciliation. They want to be in power. They only want one thing. That's why they don't want to negotiate.”

That may be your take, but things look very different to the Thais in the upcountry villages – which is surely what is more germane than farang opinion. If you doubt me, read the international press, rather than The Nation & BKK Post, which are propaganda outlets for the BKK ‘elite’.

We have no sure idea of what Abhisit wants, or how genuine are his conciliatory offers. Relevantly, the Reds apparently do not trust him. I’m sure he would be very happy if they all went quietly home. But from their viewpoint, what would they have gained, apart from a politician’s promises?

As from the start, the peaceful solution is seemingly for dissolution of a government founded on an army coup & political horse-trading, then a new election. The alternative is more bloodshed & chaos, but that’s just my take.

The farangs who take a violently partisan approach in this crisis are crapping in their own nest, IMHO. This is a very unstable part of the world. Thailand is surrounded by some very dodgy regimes. Not the least problem is the Moslem violence in the south. Inernal strife weakens Thailand. If you want to continue enjoying its benefits, you might do well to tone down your calls for ‘crackdowns’ & ‘firm action’ – the old jackboots & bullets treatment for the ungrateful poor.

It is not impossible that a regime change will arrive. The new bosses might be the ‘Reds’ you so vigorously attack. You might find your position as a farang insecure. Thais are not idiots, & they have memories. You could find it very difficult to renew your visa &/or work permit in the future. Think on’t. OGT

There is very little in the international press. They don't care about it.

What they do have is usually along the lines of "the reds are unhappy because Abhisit came to power through a parliamentary vote". Democracy - the reds don't understand that.

Internal strife weakens Thailand, so what you are suggesting is surrender to them? I suppose you are suggesting that the south should be handed over to Malaysia because that's what a few people down there want?

And then the sealer - because I have a different opinion to the reds, I am in danger? Yay for RED DEMOCRACY.

Reds will win.

It might be in one week or 1 year or 3 years but they will win.

People who do not run when shot at are highly motivated. The Reds

Since most in the military are Reds, it is only a matter of time before the entire government regime collapses.

Bye Bye old way and hello new.

Reds will win let me see ...

In China the reds won and 100 million plus got slaughtered ... and the economy took 40 years to recover.

In Cambodia the reds won and a quarter of the population got slaughtered ... and the economy is just now recovering.

In Laos the reds won and a lot of people died and the economy hasn't recovered yet.

In Vietnam the reds won and a lot of people died. Massive famines. And the economy has only just recovered.

Why should we be so happy with a red win? It is obvious the red leadership is of the same stock as those of the aformentioned countries ..... hel_l the were educated in Hanoi during the Vietnam war!

The situation is like that in Gaza. Protestors with stones and slingshots get killed by indiscriminate fire. The claims of the government that the reds have weapons (real ones) are ridiculous. Not one soldier in hospital, while to official figures of CRES say 16 killed 141 injured. Abhisit has turned in the Suchinda II cabinet.

The journalists in the cross fire were all shot by the army. An other example why the elite do not care about human life. First of all the Police need to take care of protests not army. only in banana republics the army is in charge. Secondly the soldiers are looking 17, 18 years old frightened and badly trained. They have no idea how to handle crowds.

Abhisit and his cronies should end up in the international court of justice.

Are you telling us that the soldier in the back of the truck died? No, wait. Forgot the morgue was in the hospital. Guess that video blew the bum out of your theory.

Abhisit is such an idiot.

He knew exactly what would result if he used force. Congratulations Abhisit, now you have it :D

He should have stuck to negotiations.

Abhisit is a disgusting excuse for a human being.

:) there you go again.

yeah pathetic really. Put Abhisits and Thaksins photos side by side and ask Thai people to choose the honest man.

on a side note -disgusting man? what comes to mind when I think of a disgusting man would be a man who looks sort of like a hillbilly maybe in some cut off shorts, shirtless with a big belly hanging out, sweaty, dirty and balding with an ass backwards logic and poor ability to see the obvious. just my opinion though.

So why aren't they the "blues" or the "whites"? Last time i checked the flag also had those colors. Oh, wait, maybe its because the leadership is stacked with former Maoists? And isn't one of the goals to redistribute the wealth of the elite? (well, exept Thaksin's, and Chalerm's, and Chavolit's.... :) )

In politics, a red flag is a symbol of left-wing politics, in particular, of Communism. It has been associated with left-wing politics since the French Revolution.[1] Socialists adopted the symbol during the Revolutions of 1848 and it became a symbol of communism as a result of its use by the Paris Commune of 1871.[2] The flags of several communist states, including China, Vietnam, and the Soviet Union, have red backgrounds. The Labour Party in Britain used it until the late 1980s, and the French Socialist Party uses it, as well as the Social Democratic Party Of Germany (SPD).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_flag

The British army used to wear red uniforms so that blood didn't show, according to legend and also to show the locals who was boss. Somebody then came up with the idea that camouflage might be a good idea (I think it was the French).

Good idea that the Thai troop wear jungle cam outfits. You can hardly see them. No, really. There are three divisions there and you just can't see them...............

You should choose red to write your posts - do you really think this mob and especially their leaders show any qualifications to lead this country ???? you are probably hoping for Thaksin's return and lots of rewards for anyone who supported him - basically you are a traitor to Thailand

It is you by your inability to dialog who is bringing Thailand to the verge of a Civil war and are in fact "Traitor to Thailand".

You don't suppose that they chose red simply because the 2 most popular sporting team in the country is Manchester United and Liverpool so it would be extremely easy and cheap for people to find a red t-shirt.

I don't suppose that the "Red" shirts are running on a plan of communist revolution. If that was the case, the army would have mowed them all down by now. Being led by a billionaire telecoms tycoon doesn't seem to reconcile itself with a communist ideal does it. Now, I know we live in a world where "communism" or even "socialism" or even worse "progressive" are dirty words, but I don't quite see how implementing policies to benefit (irrespective of how sustainable they were) the poor quite equates with the insanity of the communist revolution. Choosing to redistribute wealth might be cast as "communism" on Fox News, in the rest of the world, this is called taxation policy.

It makes good press to say that writing policies to subsidise rice prices for example equates to communism, however, the bastion of free trade and capitalism (the good ole US of A) has been subsidising and protecting food production in its own back yard for decades. I don't suppose we could dub American policies communist though could we?

Does this make the PAD equivalent to the British Lib Dems simply because they wear yellow?

Yes. They are reporting on the violence. International news sources love violence.

They do have the standard statement - "They claim his coalition government came to power through manipulation of the courts and the backing of the powerful military."

Am I supposed to get my knowledge of the Thai situation from these international news sources?

The reds want to collect their money and go home. To do this they must do what the boss (TS) says. Simple as that, keep your eye on the ball. Every man in Thailand would prefer to spend his weekends getting drunk and watching boxing on the telly.

Any reports of gunshots in Montenegro?

Was on Thai TV that the 10yr old boy had been hanging around for a while and had been told by the soldiers many times to leave and go home but he would not go.

They said he was lying on the footpath or road and with the army shooting at the van tyres of a speeding van there ware bound to be some bullets flying around.

Not shooting wildly as some silly bugger sugested
