Why don't we just chop up Thailand? Everything north of Chai Nat can be called Thailand and Chiangmai as the capital and everything south be called Siam and Bangkok as capital. Reds in the North Yellow in the south problem solved the only problem is then the farangs will have nothing to bitch and fight about.

Will have lot for falang to bitch about.

no cheap workers, drivers, cleaners and bar girls. This is only people from north that too many falang know.

this why some falang support a government they know nothing about it. It is all they know and they like to think that because falang, they are different from poor workers and bar girls so must be hi-so and then support gov.

You really do not have a clue what you're talking about do you?

To be honest I don't even know why I bother replying to these people. They are all completely clueless.

Thaksin's son Panthongtae tweeted: "The government's reconciliation is so violent that real bullets are fired without thinking of anybody. Photographers of Matichon [newspaper], my cameraman [Voice TV] and a foreign photographer were shot. It is speculated that the media is being attacked because they can record pictures of soldiers shooting."

Where is little Oak these days? Still hiding out with his fugitive daddy? Come on, Oak, join your protesters, this is about your future empire!

All those years of cheating in college has finally come back to haunt him. He seems to have forgotten how his daddy's war on drugs ended up with over 2500 innocent people being slaughtered. Yes, Oak, your daddy's henchmen used live bullets against them, including a 7-year old child. Did your daddy's men think about anyone else while they slaughtered people. Good old, Oak.

My Daddy just tweeted "these red shirt people are very bad and not nice people, they should all be spanked and sent to their room"

Who cares what this person Panthongtae, heard he was seen last Friday night on Bangla road

with some sweet red pumps on

Was on Thai TV that the 10yr old boy had been hanging around for a while and had been told by the soldiers many times to leave and go home but he would not go.

They said he was lying on the footpath or road and with the army shooting at the van tyres of a speeding van there ware bound to be some bullets flying around.

Not shooting wildly as some silly bugger sugested

so they asked the 10 year old boy to go home... he said no (may be he didn't had one) .. so army said since u are a mature 10 year old guy u are responsible for your safety, we will spray bullets all around and mind you we already asked u to go home ..you 10 year old boy....

thts some responsible trigger happy guys out dere....

There is very little in the international press. They don't care about it.

What they do have is usually along the lines of "the reds are unhappy because Abhisit came to power through a parliamentary vote". Democracy - the reds don't understand that.

Internal strife weakens Thailand, so what you are suggesting is surrender to them? I suppose you are suggesting that the south should be handed over to Malaysia because that's what a few people down there want?

And then the sealer - because I have a different opinion to the reds, I am in danger? Yay for RED DEMOCRACY.

The first story on Yahoo news is Thailand.

Yes. They are reporting on the violence. International news sources love violence.

They do have the standard statement - "They claim his coalition government came to power through manipulation of the courts and the backing of the powerful military."

Am I supposed to get my knowledge of the Thai situation from these international news sources?

BBC did not show the video with evidence of protesters attacking thai soldiers, CNN mentioned it. Why.?

The law firm defending Thaksin is based in London. Does this mean anything?

Abhisit is such an idiot.

He knew exactly what would result if he used force. Congratulations Abhisit, now you have it :D

He should have stuck to negotiations.

Abhisit is a disgusting excuse for a human being.

:) there you go again.

yeah pathetic really. Put Abhisits and Thaksins photos side by side and ask Thai people to choose the honest man.

on a side note -disgusting man? what comes to mind when I think of a disgusting man would be a man who looks sort of like a hillbilly maybe in some cut off shorts, shirtless with a big belly hanging out, sweaty, dirty and balding with an ass backwards logic and poor ability to see the obvious. just my opinion though.

It appears to be an opinion shared by many posters here at TV, agord. Anyway, people like this just make the rest of us look good. :D

Many of us are asking, 'what are the Reds fighting for?'

It's a good question, but the answer lies in defining who most of the Reds are.

Those fighting are mostly young men, from late teens on through thirties.

For those of you reading this who are men, now middle aged; think back to how you were in your twenties. You were probably drawn to idealistic causes and might take any excuse to get your adrenaline going (maybe you're still that way).

So, here we've got a bunch of young men who don't have much going on in their home villages, and they're given an excuse to come to the big city, all expenses paid, and encourage them to be rowdy. Add some drugs to that (alcohol and....?). Plus, when/where else will their antics get played out on the world stage? The chances of getting killed are rather low, as your adversaries (the army) are told to shoot high. Plus your armed adversaries are not trying to gain ground, but rather they're instructed to maintain a cordon. In sum, your adversaries are stymied, but you're free to do whatever you want, pretty cool huh? ....and very few protesters are actually being arrested.

Some comparisons to Muslim extremists: The minders are all older men (there are no female mullahs and there are no female Red leaders). The ones in the firing line and/or putting on the bomb belts are nearly all younger men. All are told it is noble to die - for a higher cause, and all that rubbish. One difference, the Red martyrs are not promised 76 big eyed virgins will be tending to their every desire in a garden of Eden. They'd have to go to Pattaya for that, except drop the part about virgins.

I'm afraid that you don't understand the consequences. Compared to the govt expenditure in Isaan, very little tax is received. The tax base (in isaan) would have to be widened (read income tax) and/or govt expenditure savagely reduced. You also have the expense of setting up all the infrastructure of a govt. Most of the workers in Isaan are low paid because they a low value producers, and without tax help from the south, they will stay that way.

Meanwhile in the south, they buy their produce from the southern provinces, boosting their incomes (and taxes) and reducing the current tensions.

To summarise, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Isaan workers would still be allowed down south, but without the protections they now get as thai citizens - they become the "new" burmese, cambodians or laos.

Quit your crying Farang.

You do not like the fight, Thailand does not care what you think.

You want cheap women and cheap beer, go somewhere else.

Thailand has a major fight on its hands and your nonsense about hating this group or that is dull.

Reds will win.

It might be in one week or 1 year or 3 years but they will win.

People who do not run when shot at are highly motivated. The Reds

Since most in the military are Reds, it is only a matter of time before the entire government regime collapses.

Bye Bye old way and hello new.

How dare you suggest in a sweeping generalization that all are here for cheap women and cheap beer. I'm not easily offended but you... Shame.

Sorry to have 'yakked' But you stepped over. I hope your comment was in ignorance.

No offence intended...

but wud u feel better if he adds "ladyboys" to beer and women... just curious... :D

Never try - never know. No offence taken. Curiousity killed something... escapes me now. Fast cat... :)

Abhisit is an honest man who has bent over backwards to avoid conflict yet the psychopathic leaders that manipulate the rank and file Red Shirt Brigade were and still are bent on extreme violence e and hatred from the start as their rhetoric so clearly showed and indeed still shows..

Twenty years here and Abhisit is the most progressive Prime minister to date willing to listen to all and his administration has implemented measures to assist the less well off in Thai society and indeed would have done more if it wasn't for the Red Shirt Brigaded actions to stall further measures as it was damaging thug Thaksin his family and their acolytes money stealing and law manipulation to yet further boost their fortunes at the expense of the majority.

The guy is an incompetent, irresponsible leader that has just brought the country to the edge of civil war, due to his impatience, frustration and unwillingness to show flexibility in negotiations. How much blood needs to be spilled under this idiots leadership before you tell him to resign ?

The blood lust on this forum is disgusting.

He has shown to be just the opposite to the rest of the world.

Sadly you seem to take your biased sources of information as gospel.

If anything he showed too much patience and flexibility in the face of bad faith negotiating partners.

Thaksin needed his conflagration to try and bring down the Dems, problem is this is too much too late.

The world can see the Reds are not acting rationally and are not acting democratically.

There was a good agreement, the reds walked away, and continued to hold the center of Bangkok hostage.

This has not been peaceful protest in some time.

we all know he wont because of the Thai's ridiculous fear of loosing face

I think his name is Richard Cranium :):D

Red in Thailand is the National color and does not stand for commis you dufass.

Red is the color for the English so do you call them commis too.

God help me

Nope purple is Thailands national colour.

Yellow is the colour of the king

Red is the colour of Thailands former Communist party.

Just because part of the Thai flag is red, doesnt mean it is the national colour.

I am not English btw. I resent that insinuation.

W

One slight addition, yellow is not the official color of the monarchy, it's the official Thai color for Monday, the King's birthday. It has long been used to show respect for the Monarchy including the yellow ribbons on gun barrels during the peaceful 2006 coup. Before that, yellow shirts saying I love my king were vastly popular and almost everyone would wear one on Mondays. A small percentage of these shirts were pink.

The color yellow became more associated with the PAD and is now the evil color of airport closers.

Abhisit is a disgusting excuse for a human being.

Not entirely false but above all what Abhisit should have done is to arrest the few very extremists red shirt leaders

that publicly promoted violence , at least Arisman and Sae Daeng as per their arrest warrant issued

long ago . And also have thoses yellows that had been indicted before appear before court

Had he done so , it would had been all over a week ago or so , as the other red shirt leaders had agreed to the PM roadmap .

And there would not have been 10 deads .

The PM has shown his pityfull incompetence . Of course there is a more sinister interpretation , which is that Abhisit did not press

to have those two nutcases arrested , as he wanted them to damage the red cause from within.

And then of course his withdrawal on his previous commitment to hold election on the 14th Nov , which he should had known

was like pouring oil on fire .

And now here we are ....

With 10 more dead civilians , and what the governement has to show for it ?

NOTHING ....

Really sad

Edit: Typo

Looking at the Bangkok Dangerous google map the 'reds' have expanded.

Is this due to reinforcements or them escaping the encircled zone through the weak points?

One of the leaders said supplies are running low and for new supplies to be delivered through the small sois.

What's the point of blocking an area if you don't close off every entrance.

What's the saying 'you're only as strong as your weakest point'?

You have not been dragged down, but RH is of the 'cut and paste' variety...kind of like the reds walking away from the negotiating table, and now cry for negotiations - on their terms still.

Border line insane.

Adrenaline junkies needinfg excitment.

Stupid or uncomprehending.

Brainwashed to a fine level of zealotry.

Extremely well paid.

Desperate to win so they don't do 20 years in jail...

Or several combinations of the above.

Or soldiers.

Judging from the multiplicity of reports on Red Stage's Propaganda,

group indoctrination brainwashing certainly is a long term pattern.

And now the unwanted redheaded-stepchild is loosed on the world,

unprepared to function properly in it.

2,000 zealots willing to die stupidly does not make a revolution, just a conflagration.
