I do not think that you can get a one years visa with the excuse of visiting a friend.

Why don't you check out a Thai Embassy website in your home country and see what type of visas are available to come to Thailand. Then you will have all the truthful information.

You will not get a visa based on visiting a friend anywhere in Asia. There are only a few consulates who will issue based on visiting a friend: Perth, Australia and Hull in the UK. Perth requires a signed copy of your Thai friends ID-card.

Guess you're in Europe. Try a consulate. No chance at a Thai embassy.

Getting a visa based on visiting your Thai child is not a problem. Getting a visa based on visiting friends is.

But interesting you were able to get a multiple non-O based on visiting your Thai child. I only know of Kl that is willing to do that in Asia. All other will only give a single non-O. If you can tell us a bit more about the requirements in hanoi it would be a great help to others. Like which documents they wanted to see and if you needed to show any money in the bank.

I would not count on KL either as the last report I noted the requester only got a single entry. Marriage with 100k in bank seems to be the only sure multi.
