May 17, 201016 yr SET down 3.14% due to chaos BANGKOK (NNT) -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index has descended by 3.14% after the opening of the stock market at 10.00 hrs on Monday due to the current political turmoil within Thai society. The SET index has decreased by 24.16 points to stand at 744.63 points, in trade worth 1.53541 billion THB as investors are concerned over the unrest incident in Thailand, causing 35 fatalities at present. Assistant to the Board Director of Asia Plus Securities Plc, Porranee Thongyen, said the Thai stock market today would likely dwindle continuously as a result of the ongoing political tension. Ms Porranee forecasted that investors, except long-term holders, would decide not to buy Thai stocks now since the uncertainty was too high during such unrest period in the kingdom. Regarding the external factors, the continuous depreciation of Euro currency caused by the Greek economic crisis has been affecting the domestic stock market negatively as well, the assistant to board director said. The SET index’s support line for today is expected to stand at 750-760 points. -- NNT 2010-05-17 [newsfooter][/newsfooter]
May 17, 201016 yr at morning's end SET is down 2.80% while Tokyo is down 2.20%. So I guess the chaos effect is just 0.6%
May 17, 201016 yr at morning's end SET is down 2.80% while Tokyo is down 2.20%.So I guess the chaos effect is just 0.6% And let's make this chaos sound worst by playing with numbers. If you reduce 2.80% by 21.2%, you get 2.20%. So, the Thai stock market must be doing over 21% worst than the Tokyo market. Chaos!!!!
