I saw from this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Long-Stay-To...sa-t364261.html a poster name beano2274 said:" Craig, you can get a Non Immigrant O visa for visiting friends from Hull, you will need a letter from your GF inviting you and a copy of her ID Card, check the Hull Consulate site for more details. Gives you 15 months here, you have to do a border run every 90 days."

My question:

Is it true that I just need a letter from my girlfriend inviting me and a copy of her ID Card?

Is this non immigrant O visa only allow UK citizen to apply? Can a Singaporean like me apply too?

With those documents you could get in Perth. At Hull nothing more than your money is normally required from every report I have seen here.

i just read that link you posted. that's crazy. i had no idea it was so easy to get a year in hull.

i got a non-imm-o but i have a Thai husband. and even then, it was kind of a hassle.

good luck.

I could be wrong but nothing from that statement sounds remotely true.

1. it IS possible to get a non-imm-o if you have a Thai spouse, but not for a Thai boyfriend/girlfriend

2. once you have a non-imm-o, you don't need to do border runs. you just need to report your address to the nearest immigration office every 90 days.

3. non-immigrant-o visas are initially for 90 days (from the last time you entered Thailand) with up to a year extension. then you need to reapply every 12 months.

chok dee na ja

Ok thank you so much :)

With respect, I did indeed apply for a non-O visa one week ago in Perth, with the ID card copy as well as a pair of letters written in pasa Thai and English - the friend whom I am visiting currently being neither my spouse nor bf/gf but merely a good friend.

I picked up the visa last Thursday and will be required to leave the country every 90 days for the next year. Non-immigrant visas come in various flavours.

As for Singaporean nationality, I would hope that that has little influence on the behaviours of the Royal Thai Consulate in Perth, so good luck if you get there.

Also, don't forget that Perth is only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
