Yes Nok Air still operating, wife flew up to Udonthani last weekend. I am told they are an offshoot of Thai airways maybe via their web site?

I've flown them and highly recomend them. Skinny seats but a surprising amount of legroom. Better than many mainline carriers in fact. Very fussy about overweight baggage though.

Agree about the overweight baggage. As I recall, the economy allowance is 15kg and excess is charged at 50baht per kg + VAT. Another reason why I've always gone for Nok Plus (business) which gives you 30kg allowance. Arriving in BKK with about 25kg and then continuing to Chiang Mai with Nok Plus, the extra cost of the Plus ticket covers my baggage excess by itself. Like any budget airline, Nok will look for any way to cut costs but charge for things that a more expensive airline would include - can't blame them for that.

[NokAir is 100% owned by Thai Airways and uses Thai Airways repainted but not refurnished 737's.

This id the reason for the availability of the Nok Plus (12 business class seats) and also for the relatively ample legroom in economy.

You benefit also from the Thai Airways maintenance and ground handling at most airports they fly. Go for them anytime if you have the choice they fly on time !

I flew Nok air last december when I went to Laos to get my work permit stuff.

They were not bad and I like the paint job on their little wee jet. :o

Only in Thaiand could you find a beak painted on the front of the plane. I love it!

Not bad service either, i use them quite often BKK-HKT

My plane last Thursday:

In Thailand, call 1318.

You can pay for the tickets at a 7/11.

So you get 30k allowance if you go for the Nok plus, will have to bear that one in mind !

Does anyone know what the excess baggage charge is for Bangkok Airways ? I know the allowance is 20K. I have a big journey coming ahead so this will be an important factor for me.

Nok Air are OK but they dont come anywhere near the service that BKK Airways give ! :o

As an aside, Bangkok Airways and Nok have the... how to say... :o most 'appealing' hostesses as well. Thai Airways are clearly behind in that respect.

Speaking of which, Orient Thai are not that bad in this respect, either. :D
